Description

On our way to Amsterdam you will pass by the countryside and windmills. Arriving in the Amsterdam area, we will stop at a typical Dutch cheese and wooden clog farm called 'Rembrandthoeve' located near the Amstel river. Entering the city you will see the Netherlands’ National Bank, the wellknown Heineken brewery, as well as The Painting Gallery, with the great Dutch masters such as Rembrandt and Van Gogh. From the Saint-Nicolas church you will enjoy a 20 minutes’ walk passing the neogothic Central Station reaching the royal palace on Dam Square. Here you will have free time to enjoy a boat tour or a walk along the ‘coffee’ shops, the Red-light district, etc. On departure from the city, our route will take you through the picturesque houseboats and the replica ship of the East Indian company. You will then see the Jewish Museum and the Jewish Memorial monument as well as the famous Artis Zoo and the stunning Nemo, the Science Museum designed by world-famous architect Renzo Piano.

Busy City, Bicycles Everywhere, Interesting Red Light District

Comfortable bus ride, informative tour guide, but the time was short to do all the recommended site seeying so felt like a bit of a rush around on foot to get to the places, as we decided to do the 1he canal boat ride first of one hour. Therefore, don't recommend the ride if you want to see all the other popular sites suggested by the guide.

Waste your time and money

An absolute scam disguised as Amsterdam Day Trip! This so-called "day trip" was a brazen theft of time and money, a total mockery for any traveler. They kept us locked in a bus for more than 5 hours, with absurd and unannounced stops. First, a pointless coffee break, and then a ridiculous visit to a cheese farm stuffed with footwear, clearly to sabotage the itinerary. The guide, with incredible shamelessness, insisted that this 45-minute to one-hour stop was "super necessary", but, surprise!, on the return trip there was no similar stop. Where was that "urgency"? To top it off, he admitted that we were only 5km from the centre of Amsterdam. An absolute disgrace! And most outrageous: we were left in Amsterdam for just 31⁄2 hours, a pathetic and insulting time for a city that deserves a whole day. This is not a day trip, it is a brazen scam designed to scam tourists. Run from this mess! Plan your trip by train or FlixBus and don’t waste your money on this deplorable farce. Do not fall into the trap of these scoundrels!

Worth it for a day trip

The farm we visited for the cheese and clog maker was fantastic. The farmer was quite the character - he was very entertaining and even my sully teenager said this was the highlight of the trip to Amsterdam- and if a teenager loved it, you know it is good! You get to taste a variety of Gouda cheeses he makes and there is a gift shop if you want to buy clogs he's made. Bruno was the tour guide on the bus and he gave us a lot of great information about what to do during our several hours in Amsterdam, the purpose of windmills, and the problems with flooding. His English was great and he was very friendly. We did another tour with Keolis (who runs Brussels City Tours) to Luxembourg and I realize that we were lucky that everyone on our bus to Amsterdam wanted only English. When the tour guide has to do it in Spanish and English, everything takes longer and it can be tedious to listen to everything twice. That would be the only negative about the tour. I also wish we had more time in Amsterdam and if I had to do it over again, I would probably want to stay a day or two to really see the city. But it was a great day trip.

Easy day trip to explore Amsterdam

If you are looking for an easy day trip to explore Amsterdam on your own, this is your trip. We didn’t need anything action-packed or long list of stops, just wanted a way to go check out the city. Bruno was our guide, very knowledgeable, communicated great English and answered all of our questions. He provided some great history about the Netherlands. The stop at the cheese was fun, prices weren’t bad and the samples tasted good. It was a nice addition. Overall, if you just want someone to take you to Amsterdam from Brussels to go explore the city at a good value, this is a great choice.

Disappointed...

A bit disappointing... This was not a guided tour, we were dropped off and given all of 3 hours to tour through the historic district of Amsterdam, with a map that was not overly helpful. The walk to where we were dropped off and picked back up was a 20 minute walk each way, so there went 40 minutes. We were encouraged to take the boat tour, took over an hour and while we did see lots of buildings and get some history, it was hard to take photos in the covered boat. We were promised windmills in the tour description, we saw one.... The cheese tasting, was a tour through a family owned farm, and while it was interesting, it was very staged.

Operator response

Dear customer, Thank you for sharing your experience. Due to local restrictions in Amsterdam, guided tours are not permitted in certain historic areas, which is why we offer free time to explore at your own pace. We believe this allows for a more personal experience of the city. We're glad you found the cheese farm tour interesting, and we hope you enjoyed the boat tour despite the challenge of taking photos. We strive to provide a well-rounded experience, including a glimpse of a traditional windmill, and appreciate your feedback to help us improve. Best regards, Brussels City Tours.

Day to Amsterdam

Visiting the cheese and clogs factory. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and make the trip very interesting . Must have in consideration that not all people have WiFi in their phones (roaming cost a lot of money -AT&T) and after you are on your own instructions are given thru the phone

A pleasant journey in Amsterdam

Really enjoying the cheese factory trip. We encountered the process of local cheese manufacturing in a pleasant atmosphere. Get a sight for the windmill and a free city walk.
