Itinerary
Piazza della Repubblica marks the site of the forum, the centre of the Roman city. The exact present site of the Colonna dell'Abbondanza marks the intersection of the axes of the cardo and decumanus
The loggia was built around the middle of the 16th century in the heart of the city, just a few steps from the Ponte Vecchio. Initially, it was intended for the sale of silk and luxury goods, but today mainly leather goods and souvenirs are sold. The focal point of the loggia is the Fountain of the Piglet.
In the center of Florence lies Piazza della Signoria. Established as a representation of Medici authority and boasting remarkable artistic grandeur, the square hosts the main building of Florence's government, Palazzo Vecchio, and serves as a backdrop for statues and artworks that appear strikingly lifelike.
A magnificent church and a museum that features sculptural masterpieces by the most influential Florentine artists of the Renaissance.
One of the most sophisticated streets in the heart of Florence: extending 400 meters and filled with boutiques, it serves as a connection between Piazza del Duomo and Piazza della Signoria.
Recognized as an UNESCO World Heritage Site, Piazza del Duomo stands as the essence of Florence's historic center and its spiritual core. This remarkable location allows you to take in, at a single glance, several of the city's most iconic landmarks, presenting a captivating mix of history, art, and beauty that can be quite overwhelming. Surrounding you are the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore with Brunelleschi’s Dome, Giotto’s Bell Tower, and the Baptistery, all situated in close proximity to one another, framed by historic buildings.
The Basilica ranks as one of the most significant and largest churches in Florence. It not only serves as a place of worship but also holds great historical importance as it is the final resting place for many prominent members of the Medici Family.
The Palace was commissioned in 1444 by Cosimo il Vecchio de’ Medici and designed by architect Michelozzo as the family residence. This palace is a notable example of early Renaissance civil architecture. While it served as the private home of the Medici family, including Lorenzo il Magnifico, it also functioned as a venue for public and political events, hosting visiting dignitaries.
Enjoy a guided tour of the Duomo and its exclusive visit to the Terraces
Begin your ascent to Florence Heaven: the staircase climb, through narrow and openair corridors that have been closed to the public for centuries. It will be rewarded by an incomparable view of the city from the Dome

The best part of the tour apart from the breathtaking views from the dome has been Lazarus our guide who you can tell knows a lot about art and has explained everything great!
We did the "Florence The Magnificent: Best of Florence" tour and it about killed us! Tour suppose to be 8 hours & included walking tour of city, visit to Accademia to see the David and a tour of the Uffizi. There were no water, bathroom or food breaks, or even an opportunity to sit for a moment. After the walking tour and Accademia, we raced 20 min. back to the tour office for the Uffizi tour and, on the way, decided to cancel it because it was just too much in 1 day. With some prodding, they agreed to reschedule the Uffizi tour. All of the tour guides were great, it just was a poorly planned tour that would have been better had they paid attention to basic creature comforts on such a long tour.
Dear Valued Customer, Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent experience with our shared tours. We appreciate your input, and we would like to address your concerns. As you wrote this is an 8 hour tour with 3 parts - walking tour of Florence, 1 hour visit to Accademia and then the Uffizi Tour. The day is divided between each part with correct amount of time in order to get to the new meeting point and having a small break. Actually there is 1 hour break between the Accademia Tour and the Uffizi Tour, Florence is small so that's enough of time to have a snack. In the voucher and the description of the tour it is clearly stated that this is a full day tour. It was your choice to cancel the Uffizi Tour and our team was very helpful to reschedule the Uffizi Tour for you even though it's not the policy. We are glad to hear you think that all the guides were great. We would never organise tours that is not planned well, we always strive to make tours that are well organised with the necessary comfort. We appreciate your feedback, and we are taking this situation as an opportunity to improve our experiences. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you on one of our tours again in the future. Our Guide was fun , knowledgable, and made it great for everyone. W e used Florencetown Tours for several other tours while in Florence and in Rome. All of them were great and a great value. Easy to book and work with. Had to cancel a tour due to time restraints and rebook another one. They were very accommodating. Working with a person named Francesco by email. handled all our affairs. It was great
Ery UNINFORMATIVE tour. The tour ws called „on the Medici‘s footsteps“ but we didn‘t get any information about the history of the city, monuments or aby of the cultural heritage. Insted we went to have an icecrwam (for wich we had to queue half an hour). I would NOT recommend the tour.
Family group of 4, kids young adults. We joined a group with Deborah as guide. The pace of the tour was great not too slow but also not too fast, a good walking rate with frequent interesting stops to call out different sights. Deborah's English was excellent, so very easy to follow what she was describing and to ask questions. This really helped to orientate the city.
Loved our tour guides Vanessa and Frederica! So helpful and knowledgeable and made the city and its treasures come alive in delightful ways. Highly recommend this touring company!!
The tour was excellent! It is a fantastic way to learn your way around while seeing and learning the sites. Perfect to start your Florence trip! I would definitely recommend it.
We have enjoyed 6 classes/tours with Florencetown this week. Because we are slow walkers, we did a private tour. Fabio asked us questions about our experiences before and where we were staying, he edited the tour to make it less while feeling we saw it all! We saw the squares and Neptune fountain, Uffizi, Baptistry, SMN Church, another church across the river Sua Spiritu, Ponte Vecchio. So friendly, so knowledgable.
Fabio wqs a wealth of knowledge and so much fun! This was our first time in Florence and we only had 2 days so he showed us everything that we needed to see. We learned how gelato was made, heard hilarious Michelangelo stories, saw how people in Florence purchases wine back in the day (see photo) and of course all the top sites to complete the trip. We were with Fabio for 2.5 hours but it felt like 5 minutes! We didn’t want it to end. Request Fabio and you won’t be disappointed — he gave us great dinner and bar recommendations that we will be trying out before heading home.
Laura was an amazing guide, always ready to answer our questions and adding curious details to her explanations about the city. Laura is very well prepared for this job, she studied history of arts, so she certainly knows what she is talking about and we appreciated her true Florentin soul. We will definitely come back to Florence and look for you!
