The Duomo Square offers a breathtaking view, especially at sunset, when the sun’s rays illuminate the polychrome marble of the buildings in the city’s religious complex: the Baptistery, the Cathedral, and Giotto’s Bell Tower. With our certified guide, you’ll have the chance to admire the magnificent Byzantine mosaics on the vault inside the Baptistery, while outside you can see Lorenzo Ghiberti’s masterpiece, the east door of the Baptistery, commonly called the “Gate of Paradise.” The next step of your journey will reveal the majestic Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Duomo. The final stop of the tour will be the Museum of the Opera del Duomo, where you can admire priceless works of artistic heritage. If you choose the corresponding option, you’ll have the chance to climb Giotto’s Bell Tower.

The Duomo square offers a breathtaking view, especially at sunset, when the sun's rays 'light up' the polychrome marble of the buildings that form the religious complex of the city: the Baptistery, the Cathedral and Giotto's Bell Tower. In fact the chromatic homogeneity (green, white and red) beautifully harmonizes a stylistic variety.
The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, located in Florence, is one of the most famous masterpieces of Gothic and Renaissance architecture. Its construction began in 1296, designed by Arnolfo di Cambio, and was completed in 1436 with the majestic dome by Filippo Brunelleschi, a remarkable engineering innovation. Characterized by a façade of white, green, and pink marble, the cathedral is renowned for its impressive size and intricate decorative details. The Campanile of Giotto, next to the church, and the Baptistery of St. John, with the famous Gates of Paradise by Lorenzo Ghiberti, complete the magnificent complex. The interior, relatively sober compared to the exterior, houses artworks by artists such as Paolo Uccello and Donatello. The dome, with its famous frescoes of the Last Judgment by Giorgio Vasari and Federico Zuccari, dominates Florence's skyline and remains one of the most admired architectural wonders in the world.
The tour will take us to the museum of "Opera del Duomo" where you will admire up close works of high value from the artistic heritage of the religious complex; to be noted, along with others, "La Pietà" by Michelangelo. Please keep in mind that the Museum is closed on the first Tuesday of every month
With our Certified Guide you will have the opportunity to admire, inside, the stunning Byzantine mosaics of the vault while, outside, the masterpiece by Lorenzo Ghiberti, the east door of the Baptistery, commonly called 'the Gate of Paradise'. Giotto's Bell Tower in Florence is a stunning example of Gothic architecture, standing next to the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. Designed by Giotto di Bondone in 1334, it was completed in 1359 by Andrea Pisano and Francesco Talenti. The 84-meter-tall tower is decorated with white, green, and pink marble, harmonizing with the cathedral's façade. It features intricate geometric patterns, sculptural reliefs, and stunning statues, many of which are now preserved in the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo. Visitors can climb its 414 steps to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of Florence, making it one of the city's most iconic landmarks. Visit Giotto's Bell Tower (if option is selected) Customers are kindly informed that Giotto’s Bell Tower will remain closed from November 10th to 14th.

Knowledgeable guide gave us a thorough tour. I would skip the bell tower climb if I went again. The wire mesh makes it difficult to get any good photos. Looks to be the same for the dome climb as well. There was some confusion over the admission lines, but our guide handled it for us.

Unfortunately this tour did not work out for us. Once our guide Sylvia arrived - she was 10 minutes late - she was accommodating to helping us check our backpack & find a toilet. After that, I was not impressed with crowd or long line control. There was no “skip the line” with a private tour guide to get into see the Duomo and the line was very long. We ended up going to the Bell Tower first, then the museum. The Baptistry was under construction so nothing to really see via the main sight. Upon returning to the Duomo line - it continued to be long. Sylvia told us out tickets are good for 3 days so we decided to call it done & visit on our own. Nothing bad to say about our guide - just the entire process of getting in & touring was not easy or pleasant. There are other smaller museums & collections to view. Go enjoy them

Regarding the visit itself, please note that access to the Cathedral is managed directly by the administration of the complex, and during busy periods, lines may form even for ticket holders. The ticket used for this tour includes priority access to the various monuments of the complex; however, all visitors are still required to go through mandatory security checks, which can sometimes cause brief delays. We are pleased to know that the guide remained patient and did her best to make the experience as enjoyable as possible despite the circumstances. We sincerely hope that, despite the crowds and the ongoing restoration works, you were still able to appreciate the beauty and history of Florence’s Cathedral complex. Great take - Had a great guide. On the negative side 1) Email sent us pre-tour on a wild goose chase to pick up tickets (wasn’t necessary because guide had them). 2) Assumed we were getting “skip line tix” which were faster than regular tix but still 45 minute wait…
