Itinerary
We begin our tour in the city's historic Greyfriars Kirkyard where JK Rowling spent a lot of time while writing the books. Here we'll see several names on gravestones that inspired characters in the series including William McGonagall and Thomas Riddell. From here we will also see two potential inspirations for Hogwarts in the form of George Heriot's School and Edinburgh Castle.
An area of the city named after Harry Potter? Surely not! See the place where she wrote much of the first book from here.
Harry Potter connections to the Museum and surrounding area - and also learn about the Balmoral Hotel where JK Rowling finished the series.
Next we come to the historic George IV bridge, including plenty of photo opportunities and a world-famous cafe known as the "Birthplace" of Harry Potter. We will explain why those inverted commas are very important...
One of Edinburgh's most iconic streets, considered to be the real life Diagon Alley. Here our tour ends with some more brilliant stories from your guide.

Sam was an amazing guide for our tour! The tour was family-friendly, entertaining, and full of fascinating details. The kids especially loved learning a magical spell! Sam was knowledgeable, engaging, and made the experience fun for everyone. Highly recommend this tour for Harry Potter fans of all ages! ✨
Perfect,interesting,fynny,joyful
We had Colin as our guide and he did it really nice and well. Loved the walk and the talk. Loving the setup, that they make it able for everyone to go to and still ask in an open way with good explanation to give some money (for those who can) to keep this going. Nice fun little game where the group is settled in the 'houses' and questions are asked inbetween. I'm terrible with names and stuff, so I let the others answer :). You clearly see Colin enjoyed this walk and his explanations. That makes it so much more fun then someone who is only standing there because it's a 'job'. Someone came on last minute and hadn't booked, and was able to tag along too (good job!). It was easy to recognise Colin at the arrival point and the text message sent in advance was nice and personal too, we answered so he knew we were on our way and on time.
Wizard Stu was a great tour guide. He was friendly, informative, and very enthusiastic. The tour was free but Stu definitely deserved a tip! I would recommend for all Harry Potter fans.
This was so fun, Colin was amazing and had great stories to tell. We recommend this tour to anyone who likes Harry Potter.
Alistair is a fine guide with humour and knowledge.

Ollie was an excellent tour guide. We brought our 10 year old daughter who is a major Harry Potter fan and she was absolutely transfixed with the tour.
Highly recommend!! Our guide was very engaging and the tour was both informative and a lot of fun too. Great for both adults and kids.
