HMS Victory was towed to Rosia Bay after Nelson's victory at Trafalgar. Despite denials by the Royal Navy the local story is that Nelson’s body was brought ashore at Rosia Bay where his body was changed from the barrel of brandy to one of alcohol (spirit of wine) for the return journey home.

The Gorham’s Cave Complex is the name given to the area covering some 28 hectares on the eastside of Gibraltar from sea level to the top of the Rock. In July 2016, it was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its exceptional testimony to the occupation, cultural traditions and material culture of Neanderthal and early modern human populations through a period spanning approximately 120,000 years. Although access is restricted, a platform has recently been constructed where the entrance to the cave complex can be viewed.

Catalan Bay, known in Spanish as ‘La Caleta’, is a small sandy bay and picturesque fishing village on the eastern side of the Rock away from the main city.

After departing Catalan Bay we will cycle along Eastern Beach and through the tunnel which passes under the airfield. We will then cycle back across the airfield for a spectacular view of the Rock and end to the tour

We loved this tour....

We loved this tour. E-bikes were a great way to cover a lot of ground and see a good bit of Gibraltar. There were plenty of stops for historical info and photo taking. Nabil was a great guide, friendly and knowledgeable. As noted in the description, this is not the tour to learn how to ride a bike. Riding along with heavy auto & truck traffic could get a little hairy, but Nabil took us on side streets & paths whenever possible.

Very disappointed

We rented e-bikes in Gibraltar with two couples (4 people) and paid €173 per couple for a tour of about three hours. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. We only cycled a total of 15 km, and most of the time was spent standing still while the guide talked at length about buildings, wars, and personal stories. While some explanation can be interesting, we expected a more active cycling experience rather than long periods of standing still. For almost €200 per couple, we felt the tour was far too expensive for the short distance and limited cycling time. The price-to-value ratio was, in our opinion, very disappointing. Overall, we did not feel we got good value for the money paid.

Operator response

Hi Raf, i am very sorry to hear that we did not achieve our usual 5 star experience for you during your visit. I am not sure if it was yourself or someone in your group who booked the tour but if you had read the description you would have been aware of what to expect. The stops and the route are very well explained in the tour description. It sounds like you would have preferred to rent eBIkes and self guide so that you could proceed at your own pace and cover more distance. This is a service that we also offer and which includes the routes on google maps and a smartguide app if you want the option to hear audio descriptions of places of interest. We appreciate you taking the time to review, this will help ensure that guests read the tour descriptions so that they are aware of what to expect before they make the booking. A useful practice in order to avoid disappointment. Best wishes, Stuart

MUST DO!

So much fun. Frankie shared his historical knowledge of the Rock and the City as he skillfully lead our party of 3 on this ebike tour. He is funny and generously pointed out things for us to do after the tour completed. The bikes were awesome, we went up hills effortlessly but when they say only lightly use the brakes its for a reason. Highly recommend this experience for the quick overview to start off your Gibraltar adventure.

Easy breezy sightseeing

My husband and I are in our 50s and do no exercise . We are new to E Bikes and to Gibraltar and we did not struggle to cycle the 16 km around Gibraltar. There were hills but Ian our guide assured us the bike would do the work and it did ! Ian had lots of information about the history of Gibraltar, he clearly loves the island and is very knowledgeable about it. We would definitely recommend this tour and we’re converted to a bikes.
