Itinerary

15 min

In a 3,5 hrs walking food tour you will dive into this world of culinary experiences, during which you will try only the best dishes in each eatery. Sipping a glass of local wine, you will be able to feel this unique lifestyle, based on hard work but also moments of pleasure, social life and relax. We will walk through the beautiful streets of the old town, passing by the most famous monuments, while our local expert will give an insight into the history and culture. Please, bear in mind that the tastings here described may change according to the season and the availabilities of our partners.

15 min

You will start your food adventure near the Chapel of Souls, a famous chapel well-known for its blue and white tiles on the outside, depicting scenes from Saints' lives. In a pastry shop nearby we will begin with a beloved Portuguese pastry: a delectable and iconic treat that tantalizes taste buds with its rich, creamy custard filling nestled within layers of flaky, golden-brown puff pastry. This delighƞul pastry is perfectly balanced, offering a sweet and slightly caramelized flavor, often accentuated with a dusting of cinnamon or powdered sugar on top. It will be paired with the most typical of Portuguese sweets, a coffe just goes with it! A lovely and energetic start for our tour!

45 min

We will head to Bolhão Market, a neoclassic jewel and one of the most iconic buildings in town, dating back originally to 1937. Still nowadays the city market is a nevralgic point for the city's life, and it's perfectly integrated in one of the liveliest distrcts Here inside, you will try a board of local cheese and wine. Porto, known for its rich culinary heritage, boasts a variety of distinctive cheeses that capture the essence of the region. Paired with the local board we'll also drink a glass of local wine!

45 min

Avenida dos Aliados is a big alley in the heart of Porto, famous for its city hall buildings and Art Noueveau palaces. It's definitely a must-see during your trip to Porto and we will pass by to head to our next stop, where you will enjoy a savory delight from Portuguese cuisine, bifana! It is a flavorful sandwich featuring thinly sliced marinated pork nestled within a soft or crusty bread roll. The pork is typically seasoned with garlic, paprika, and other spices, then slow-cooked to perfection.

60 min

Let's move towards Rua do Carmo, along which you can admire some of the most beautiful landmarks of the city, such as the Lions' Fountain or the Igreja do Carmo, a stunning baroque church with blue and white tiles on the outside. And in a Tasca nearby - a local restaurant that offers a traditional cuisine - you will discover a delightful aspect of Portuguese culinary culture. They're called petiscos, a term which refers to a variety of small, flavorful dishes akin to tapas in Spain. These bite-sized treats are designed for sharing, encouraging a communal and social dining experience. From marinated olives and cheese platters to grilled chorizo and seafood skewers, petiscos showcase the diverse and rich flavors of Portuguese cuisine. A glass of wine is included in the tasca, as well!

30 min

Port Wine is named after the city of Oporto, the second largest city in Portugal and a major port that historically exported Portuguese wines. Port wine is fortified with grape spirits and tastes complex and sweet. In alternative to the drink alone you may also the cocktail try white port mixed with tonic. But you can actually use any style of port, including a Red or Young Tawny Port to make a Port and Tonic.

Fun experience but food was meh

Cintia was a wonderful host and we had a fun group. She gave us some good insights on the culture and history and kept the group engaged. The food selections were okay and I felt for the price point could have been better. For the 5 of us, more than $300 was the same as the cost of a top restaurant we went to the next day.

We have a great time with Cintia as our guide! She told us about the sites we walked by on our way to our foodie locations. The food was amazing! Not a bad experience

Good fun experience, shows the types of food that Porto inhabitants eat. Not as much food as on other tours that we have been on. Also not as much information - although it might have been thee but we struggled to hear Wilson, the tour guide at times.

Excellent introduction to Porto

Our group was made of 8 people, 2 couples and a family. Our host (Vinny) was friendly, relaxed, interesting and passionate about Porto. The tour took 3 hours, we had 4 stops. We were taken to various parts of the city and introduced to local favourite foods. The pace was relaxed, our group did a lot of laughing. We went on our first night in Porto, so it served as a fantastic introduction to the area and foods of Porto.

Great trip in Porto

We were guided around on a delicious tour with a lot of exciting local food by our guide Vini he did it incredibly well and had found a lot of a little smaller places where we could taste it as the locals also eat. We even had to go back to one of the places the next day when it was so good. The trip was definitely worth the money
