Itinerary
WALLS TOUR: Our meeting point, this is where the guide will meet and greet the guests! Discover the beauty of Dubrovnik while learning about the city’s interesting past on this historical walking tour. Meet your local guide near Pile Gate for a tour of the ancient city walls, a 1.2-mile (2-km) complex structure built in the 14th century that served as defensive structures to protect the city.
After meeting in Pile area, in front of Sky bar, begin the journey through history and through Old Town. Pass the Franciscan Monastery and admire Orlando’s Column, a monument on the Stradun inspired by the city’s long-standing freedom and sovereignty. See, too, Onofrio’s Fountain, built in 1438 at the end of a 8-mile (12-km) aqueduct that gave the city its water supply.
We enter the old town, then head towards the city walls entrance.
We will stop to buy the city walls tickets and then we will walk the city walls. Marvel at the beautiful blue colors of the Adriatic Sea and admire breathtaking views of the port and the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, while your guide takes you through the history of the city walls. In the 11th century, the sea channel separating the city from mainland was covered up with earth, so a single wall was built to enclose the present-day Old Town. The city walls have been restored several times in history to resemble their original appearance. With your guide, see Fort Revelin and Minceta Tower within the city walls (entrance fees not included), and learn the strategic position of these forts and their role in Dubrovnik's history. You will also see Fort Lovrijenac in the distance, the only fort that belongs to the city walls but it's physically separated from them, and which you may visit after the tour. As you wander around Dubrovnik's ancient walls, your guide will explain the defensive and political challenges faced by Dubrovnik in the past. Hear stories of the rivalry and conquest Dubrovnik has faced and learn the secrets of how the country used defensive fortifications and diplomacy to remain an independent republic for several years, before ending your tour near the port. *Entrance fee to City Walls not included in price.
The main square of the old town, several stories covered here (St.Blaise's church, Orlando's column, Sponza Palace, Small Onofrio's Fountain, Bell tower...)
Our last stop is in this area

A fantastic way to spend my single day in Dubrovnik. As well as a comprehensive and enthusiastic explanation of the city's history, politics and architecture, our fantastic guide Goran provided invaluable tips on where to eat, drink, explore and how to avoid wasting time and money. Absolutely unmissable.
Thoroughly enjoyed this walking tour. Our guide Goran was extremely knowledgeable and informative. We are a family of 5. Kids aged 10, 9 and 6 and they all managed easily with the walking and steps. 10 year old enjoyed the information younger two enjoyed the scenery. Would recommend to any one wanting to do the walls. I think if we had have done the walls ourselves we wouldnt have got as much out of it. Just an FYI you need to pay 40 euro per adult and 15 euro per child over than 7 to just enter the walls and then 25 euro per adult for the tour. 10 euro per child. So it is an expensive excursion imo.
The tour of the walls was outstanding. Our Guide for both tours, Goran, was knowledgeable, funny and had several anecdotes that he shared throughout. We really were getting the inside scoop. Highly recommend Dubrovnik Walks. The instructions to find them were great.
This tour is a great way to get acquainted with the major sites and history of Dubrovnik. Our guide was quite knowledgeable and answered all of our many questions on the tour. We went in the late afternoon so avoided afternoon heat and crowds.
Our guide was so knowledgeable and entertaining. He also provided great ‘local, insider’ information. Very helpful!
Our guide, Goran, was fantastic. Very knowledgeable, local guide. We went with our 3 young children and it was very hot and there are some strep parts, but he kept us safe and entertained! The tour is long, because you go around the entire walls, about 2-2.5 hours. It also was in the morning, which is nice because midday becomes very hot and crowded! The admission fee is fairly priced, plus you must purchase an entry ticket to go up the walls. The money goes back into keeping up the the infrastructure, so think of it as getting a free visit with your donation :) the admission also gives you access to many other museums and spaces. Would recommend!
Guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. Gorgeous views!
Excellent guide with extensive knowledge on history and culture. Guide was humorous and informative. Loved walking the walls!
Absolutely fantastic tour. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Goran is a terrific guide- knowledgeable and passionate. A must do in Dubrovnik.
Great tour. Branko was informative, funny and very knowledgeable. Booked as my first activity on Dubrovnik. Great way to learn about the history, and to find your way around. Highly recommend
