Discovering the historic village of Monsanto

Description
Our adventures are not just made of Nature and proof of this is our visit to the historic village of Monsanto In 1938, this was considered the most Portuguese village in Portugal and was awarded the silver rooster that it still proudly displays today on its Lucano tower. In this village everything seems magical, its location on the slope of a granite outcrop meant that the village's inhabitants built houses using the huge boulders as part of the housing structure, often defying the laws of physics. At the top we find the Monsanto castle which still shows its grandeur and the ingenuity of the Portuguese people who built it, also becoming known in recent years for being one of the settings for the famous series "Game of Thrones" All of this will always be accompanied by breathtaking landscapes and unforgettable displays of nature.

Had an amazing trip with an amazing guide, Sergio. Would recommend this trip to everyone visiting Portugal. It’s been value for money.
Sergio's guide was good. Monsanto was the most amazing view I've ever seen. I also drank green wine for lunch for the first time. It was a refreshing drink, suitable for summer
Sergio is a very knowledgeable and personable guide. It would be advisable to book Sergio early to secure his services. We have recommended his company to several friends who plan to visit Portugal.
I participated alone from Japan. We had a great time with the friendly Guides and asked them questions in advance using the messaging feature on our site, but they were very courteous and we felt very comfortable participating. Meals are listed as none, but when I checked, they replied that they usually make Reservations at nearby restaurants. This restaurant was also very good. I stayed at a hotel near Coimbra (A) station, but I was able to have them pick me up in front of the hotel, and Coimbra (B) was one train ride from Lisbon and Porto, so it was very accessible. Coimbra is also a very good city, and Monsanto is quite a difficult place to go on your own, such as by bus, so I think this tour is the best choice for a limited number of days. Monsanto, of course, was a wonderful place. * Coimbra has stations A and B, which can be reached by train. *The conversation was in English, but I don’t think there were many scenes during the tour where communication was essential, especially at a word level.
Thank you very much for all the compliments, I love my profession, and showing all the beautiful things that the lousã mountain has to offer. my best regards
This was a really great trip. Book a train to Coimbra, and it’s absolutely worth it to find this hidden gem. Sergio was a great and very friendly tour guide with plenty of insights to share! Lunch with green wine was also a highlight! Monsanto is a beautiful village with some very extreme visuals and a lot of history. I felt sorry for the other people we saw checking it out without Sergio to tell them all about the history of the village. Great for solo travelers! I was honestly a bit reluctant when I realized I had to pay the same as two people, but when you realize he only does private tours and thus if you book solo you’re the only person on the tour, you realize that for the amount of time he’s spending, this is what makes it worth it and even makes the solo option available. So whether you come alone or bring friends, family, etc. along, I highly recommend this tour while you’re in Portugal!
We always want to provide personal experiences and we are glad you enjoyed the tour! Thank you very much for your review, we hope to see you soon!
I've been wanting to go to the village of Monsanto for years and this year I finally made my dream come true with the precious help of Aventuras Fortes and Sérgio. It's difficult to find words to describe the historical and natural beauty we found. The village of Monsanto is unlike anything we've ever seen, houses and stones merge to create something unique and beautiful, and the ruins of the castle are well worth the trip. Sérgio is an excellent guide, with real knowledge of the area and none of our questions were left unanswered. Definitely a memory for life.
Muito obrigado Sra Alexandra, como sempre é um prazer recebê-las e levá-las à descoberta de novos locais do nosso país. Até à próxima!
