The Domus Romana in Rabat, Malta, is an ancient Roman villa with a simple, symmetrical design. Built with local limestone, its pale exterior blends with the surrounding area. The entrance is marked by a large arched doorway leading into a courtyard, flanked by smaller windows. The structure is surrounded by high walls, offering protection and privacy. While much of the original decoration is not visible from the outside, remnants of Roman columns and architectural details hint at its former grandeur. The villa sits amidst other Roman ruins in a quiet residential area, with a reconstructed roof to give a sense of its ancient appearance. The surrounding garden adds to the historical ambiance.
The Mdina Gate in Malta is an impressive, fortified entrance to the historic city of Mdina. Built in the 18th century, its grand, Baroque design features a large archway flanked by bastions and defensive walls. The gate is made of local limestone, giving it a warm, golden hue. Above the arch, a coat of arms and a statue of the Virgin Mary are prominent, adding to its architectural beauty. The outer facade is marked by a large, imposing doorway, while the surrounding area includes a bridge leading to the city. The Mdina Gate stands as a striking symbol of Malta’s rich history, offering a majestic entry into the medieval city.
St. Paul's Church in Rabat, Malta, is an elegant Baroque-style church located near the site where St. Paul is believed to have stayed after shipwrecking on the island. The church’s exterior features a simple, yet graceful façade made of limestone, with a central entrance framed by decorative columns and a large, arched doorway. Above the entrance, a circular window adds to the structure's symmetry. The façade is crowned with a small bell tower. The church is surrounded by narrow streets, contributing to its intimate, historic atmosphere. The exterior, while understated, reflects the church’s significance as a place of worship and historical importance.
St. Magdalene's Chapel near Dingli Cliffs in Malta is a small, rustic chapel perched on a hill with stunning views of the surrounding countryside and coastline. The chapel’s exterior is made of local limestone, featuring a simple, unadorned façade with a modest wooden door and a small bell tower. Its stone walls blend harmoniously with the natural landscape, giving it a tranquil, remote feel. The chapel is often surrounded by fields and greenery, enhancing its peaceful, secluded atmosphere. Tastinf of Traditional Maltese coffee and sweet to accompany the beautiful views. Dingli Cliffs, located nearby, rise dramatically above the sea, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Mediterranean. The cliffs are rugged and natural, with sparse vegetation, making the chapel’s location even more striking against the vast, open sky and sea below.
Buskett Gardens in Malta is a lush, green oasis nestled in the countryside near Siggiewi. The gardens are surrounded by high limestone walls, creating a peaceful, secluded environment. The entrance features a simple gateway leading into a tree-filled landscape, with a mix of Mediterranean vegetation, including olive trees and citrus groves. The pathways are lined with tall trees, offering shade and a serene atmosphere. The gardens are known for their natural beauty, with well-maintained areas, fountains, and scenic views of the surrounding hills. Buskett Gardens provides a tranquil escape, blending nature and history in a charming, rural setting.
The Old Train Station in Rabat, Malta, is a charming relic of the island's early railway history. The station building features simple, traditional limestone construction, with a rectangular design and a sloped roof. Its façade includes arched windows, a central entrance, and a small, decorative clock, reflecting the architectural style of the late 19th century. The station is surrounded by open space, with traces of the old railway tracks nearby. I cancelled the trip more than a week before the trip as my husband was rushed to hospital so our holiday was cancelled. The cancellation was never accepted/acknowledged. Not good customer service,
A tuk tuk is a fun way to sightsee. I wasn't expecting to see the Dingli Cliffs so that was a real treat. The guide was informative and friendly.
Great experience - the dingli cliffs were amazing and the tuk-tuk is a different way to do a tour! The guide is very accommodating, I was late for my tour and he shifted me to the next slot for the day which worked out much better!
We are so glad we chose this experience. Nicky was an amazing tour guide. He gave us a lot of history of Mdina and surrounding area. He showed us all the highlights. We had the best Maltese coffee at one of our stops. He graciously took our picture at a few stops. He never rushed us and took his time answering our questions. I would highly recommend this Tuk Tuk tour to anyone visiting the area.
Driver was charming and eager to show off his city. We shared the Tuk Tuk with an other couple who were also charming and we had a lovely time. The weather was warmer than it had been for a week and the sun added to the experience, it was Palm Sunday and the first church we visited was giving out olive branches rather than palm fronds as while there are palms on Malta cutting off the branches would have denuded every palm on the island, Good tour, great day.
We didn't think the route would be so extensive and informative! We'd definitely recommend this! Explore the walled Mdina, and then do this tour.
Plenty of information given stopped when we wanted a photo opportunity and didn’t rush us. Careful driver. His name was Nicky. Thank you for great trip
We really enjoyed our experience on our tuk tuk ride, the four of us had a comfortable journey as we drove past to admire the beauty and sights. We stopped to take pictures and view attractions, whilst being guided by Nicky who was informative and friendly. We stopped for coffee and snack included in the tour. Fun experience and recommend this!
Travelling around southwest Malta in a comfortable electric tuk tuk proved to be a superb and very comfortable way to explore and experience the area, not only the towns but the farms and countryside, and we enjoyed the driver's expert commentary. We also enjoyed the flexibility of the hour and a half itinerary, and the driver's obvious connections with the local people - the Dingli Cliffs stop was a delight! Thanks again next time we'll bring friends!
Very good experience A very nice guide, attentive and who gave us good explanations about the places we saw! 👌🏼
