The only completely preserved portrait of the king is a three-inch high ivory figurine found in a temple ruin of a later period at Abydos in 1903. All other reliefs and statues were found in fragments, and many buildings of Khufu are lost. Everything known about Khufu comes from inscriptions in his necropolis at Giza and later documents. For example, Khufu is the main character noted in the Westcar Papyrus from the 13th dynasty.
Khafre's pyramid complex consists of a valley temple, the Sphinx temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple and the king's pyramid. The valley temple yielded several statues of Khafre. Several were found in a well in the floor of the temple by Mariette in 1860. Others were found during successive excavations by Sieglin (1909–10), Junker, Reisner,
Menkaure's pyramid complex consists of a valley temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king's pyramid. The valley temple once contained several statues of Menkaure. Ahmed was super friendly! Was well taken care of . Deserves all the best ! Commute from Cairo to Alexandria when well as well . Thanks!
This is a really long day, ours ran from 7am to 8pm. We did get to see the pyramids of Giza, the as phinx, Egyptian museum and had a wonderful lunch on the banks of the Nile. However, we found the several stops at over-priced stores "just for the experience, no need to buy anything" really detracted from the day, as each time we politely declined to buy we received odd looks and various comments to include "you're breaking my heart". My suggestion would be to tell your guide upfront that you have zero interest in any shopping or experiences outside of the official itinerary.
This tour was well designed, reasonably priced, and perfectly executed. Everything promised was delivered. Mahmoud, our artist-driver, with his charming smile was a real pleasure to spend time with during the long return trip. Mohammed showed vast knowledge of Egyptology and was extremely attentive to our needs and particularly flexible in responding to our requests. Thank you for a wonderful day.
Our tour leader is a professional guide Rumani (Ru). He lead us to visit pyramids and went through Egypt museum with clearly knowledge. The most important thing is that he knows to make good points of ancient pieces. The van was also good which was important for 3 hours driving time in one way. The tour is worthy.
Don't book this tour with Viator. Emo travel have no identification at port exit and don't have your name printed anywhere to show you. I did not want to get in the car they offered me on my own with no English spoken by the driver. It looked like a dirty Kia Cerato Uber car. There was no seatbelt clasp to put the belt in the back seat so I sat in the dirty front seat with no A/C all the way to Cairo with my head blown by the wind. After thar the Guide was OK when the driver eventually found him up in the flithy back streets of Cairo. The activities were OK and the lunch good. Unfortunately the guide the next day in Alexandria refuted most of the statistical information Acmat had given me in Cairo. The journey back was pleasant in an airconditioned clean newish car, as the guide had arranged it.
Our tour guide Islam and Mohammad the driver made this whole day tour smooth, comfortable, informative and educational. The pyramids were unbelievably magnificent after all these years. The museum has many mummies that were well preserved over thousands of years. After being out in the hot sun, the most welcome drink was the freshly squeezed sugar juice, so thirst quenching and refreshing, very thoughtful of our tour guide. Egyptian buffet lunch was very good. We truly enjoyed this tour.
I found this to be very sketchy at first. After a short walk from the port to the gates you will see several tour operators with various signs. My name was written on a piece of paper (not very professional) held by a man who didn’t speak English who was our driver. When we arrived at our car the driver gave me his phone to talk to our guide who at first told us we were not going to the pyramids. This was our soul purpose of going to Giza. Our guide did however manage to resolve this. We didn’t meet up with our guide for almost an hour. We were driven out of Alexandria to Cairo over 1 1/2 hours. This information would have been helpful to know prior to getting into the car and putting us more at ease.
Great tour, much better value than the ship’s offerings. Ahmed was a great driver, a real adventure in Cairo. Islam was our guide, really knew the history. He gave a great tour of the Egyptian Museum and pyramids & sphinx. He tried to steer us away from the Khan el khali bazaar-we insisted on it and bought several great souvenirs there! Overall a great experience, I highly recommend this excursion.
We visited the pyramids, sphinx, museum and the market. Our guide was very knowledgeable about history and was interesting. Our driver took good care of us.
Our trip was absolutely fantastic. Ahmed our driver was gracious & kind. Hoping he'll get better with English, rather than using Google translation, so he can interact with the clients better. Also hoping he could come into the ports, like other tour companies that do, because the walk to gate # 10, was far specially for my wife who uses a cane to walk. Viator, pls arrange that next time, worldwide. We've had similar situations in other countries before, too. But if viator pays a few bucks more, it can be arranged, like all other tour companies. Thanks Norman & Helen D'Silva
