Itinerary
We will start the tour here where the tour guide will introduce you to the city and explain about one of the most infamous buildings in the old town. They will then tell you stories of Edinburgh's form of entertainment. You will also be able to visit the famous Heart of Midlothian.
Here you will learn about the gruesome time that the people of Edinburgh would partake in as well as what life was like for the people living in the city during the 17th Century. You will find out about one of Edinburgh's most infamous streets which is riddled with dark history and ghost stories alike.
You will be taken down Advocates Close where you will be told the dark tale of one of Edinburgh's most famous ghost stories which still haunts the streets to this day.
You will be taken down to Victoria Street, the inspiration for Diagon Alley from Harry Potter, where you will be told about another famous wizard, but this story is a far stretch from the boy wizard.
You will be taken to the 600-year-old market place to find out more about Edinburgh's form of entertainment, and you will be told about a riot that occurred at one of these events resulting in a dark story of betrayal and murder. You will find out about Jesse King the last woman to be executed in Edinburgh and Maggie Dickson.
This is our final stop where you will be told about one of the most violent Poltergeist hauntings in Britain, War and Murder, Body snatching and Graverobbing, and even people being buried alive in one of the world's most haunted cemeteries.

Kieran, our tour guide, was super knowledgeable and captivating in his story telling. You learn the real history of Edinburgh and its dark side. Would highly recommend booking this tour especially because you know your guide will be Kieran. Would recommend for all ages!

The guide was incredibly knowledgeable and an excellent storyteller, bringing Edinburgh's darker history to life in such an engaging way. Even as someone from Scotland, I learned so much that I'd never heard before. It was fascinating to discover more about the darker side of our history, and the stories were told in a way that kept everyone completely hooked from start to finish. Absolutely loved this tour, it was informative and gave you a darker side to Edinburgh, graveyard was interesting and you may even see the odd tooth or bone of the deceased. would recommend

Really enjoyed the Dark World Host tour. Some good stories, quick paced tour where we didn't linger in any one cplace and got on with the tour. As a result we saw many locations and had a lot of stories told. Kieran was enthusiastic and added content as he was asked. We finished in Grey friars cemetery were we heard a number of stories and were taken to a number of graves used as inspiration for Harry Potter names. Recommend the tour. Only reason i didn't give it a 5 star was that I have been to numerous ghost tours around the world and have been left give goose bumps and shivers and experiences before, but didn't find it here. BUT the stores were still good so don't be dissuaded from going by this comment.
Thank you for your review I am glad that you enjoyed the tour. We do pride ourselves on providing detailed and spooky tales for every tour, but of course some stories just dont distill fear into everyone, but I am glad you were able to still enjoy the tour.
Kieran is not only a spellbinding storyteller, but also knows a whole lot about Edinburgh's and Scotland's history. He had an answer to all our questions. We had an excellent time and learned a lot without ever being bored. The stories will stay with you for way longer than the duration of the tour. Still thinking about some of the stories we heard and intrigued to research some more about the topics mentioned - which I think is the best compliment I could make to a tourguide.

Great experience with Kieran! Awesome tour! Was a rainy day in Edinburgh and I ended up being the only one on the tour, but Kieran was great! He let me borrow his umbrella when the rain got too much and made sure that I was always comfortable throughout. His story telling was top tier and I learned so much history. I really enjoyed my time and would highly recommend this tour to anyone that is wanting to know the darker side of this beautiful city we call Edinburgh!
