Beautiful countryside. Interesting Roman ruins We travelled with an elderly lady and the walking portion of the tour was too rushed for my elderly mother to keep pace
Dear Andrew, I am really sorry that your mother felt rush during that half day private tour. I guess we should have split in two groups earlier when doing the walking tour of Arles. With the added walking tour in Saint Rémy, 5 hours was, indeed, not long enough and certainly too much walking for your mother. I really wanted to show you all, I should have been more sensitive and cut some of the stops. Anne
We had an amazing time with our guide Gordana. She took us to Pont du Gard and the village of Les Baux. She was friendly, flexible and made the time so enjoyable!
The locations we visited were very interesting and worthwhile. However the design of the tour and the tour guide were not worth the 80 euros per person. The tour lasted 5 hours and not once were we offered anything including a glass of water or given the opportunity to stop for a snack or cup of coffee. However the guide who was arrogant and dismissive, had food and drinks for herself. By the time the tour ended we were thirsty, hungry and uncomfortable. In comparison the day before we went on an all day river cruise which included a three course meal and wine for 75 euro per person and the host was warm and delightful. My recommendation is skip this tour and go on the boat trip or hire your own car!
We had booked a walking tour of Avignon that cancelled on us at the last minute. We were very disappointed at the cancelation since I had gone to college in Avignon 50 years ago. We went to Trip Advisor after the cancelation and this tour was available and we booked it. That cancelation was the best thing that happened to us in Avignon. This tour was a van tour of Provence with a private guide, Anne. She was a fantastic guide born and raised in Provence she was incredibly knowledgeable of the area. What a lucky break for us getting to take this amazing tour. Must not miss!!
This private tour is great value as it’s customizable to whatever areas you want to go to within the five hours. Anne was our guide and very personable and knowledgeable, didn’t rush us and allowed extra time at the spots we wanted to spend more time at. Although the lavender fields were past blooming she made a point of taking us to a sunflower field. We really enjoyed the vibrant green of The Fountaine de Valicouse and the bright orange and reds of Roussillon, two spots not to be missed!
We booked a wine tour Chateauxneuf du Pap for the afternoon. Garganere was an excellent tour and wine guide. We enjoyed it with extra personal touches. Will definitely advise to book this tour. *****
Loved going to Nimes and Uzes as the end points of the Pont de Gard. Anne was very knowledgeable and got us a lot of information and site visit in our time.
We had a group of 6 and another couple joined us (poor people) to take a 1/2 day tour through Gigondas and Chateneuf de Pape. We had 3 excellent stops with deep education and tasting. We know our wines but we learned so much more. The last stop in CDP in the cellar of a distributor was the kind of direct one on one experience you hope for. Everyone of all interests got a lot out from each person and Annes guidance, tidbits and tips made the time fly by!
Bonjour Anne, Merci for a lovely day with Time4Provence Tours—in Arles, St. Remy and Les beau Provence. You led the 6 of us on the best tour I’ve taken. I loved Arles and my husband, Mike, enjoyed the amphitheatre. He even went down under into the internal corridors. Loved seeing where Van Gogh's inspiration came from. And St. Remy looked like a place for serious shoppers and avid history and art lovers. It was fun in that you took us off the beaten path and showed us the homes built into the mountain side. Thank you for including the Carrières des Lumières in Les Beau de Provence with a magical art display—Venice - Yves Klein. Oh and a darling French textile shop in Arles was one of my favorite shops. This was one beautiful trip to celebrate our 50th. You certainly have the history down, and it’s nice to know you grew up in Avignon. We love your town. It was a good group as we had a common link—Rochester, MN and Westlake! Thank you again for a lovely day. I highly recommend Anne and Tours of Provence. Nikki and Mike Dowd
Ann was our guide who met us in Avignon. We left town 2:30 p.m. for the drive to Arles, see the local white horses and on down to the coast. We had 8 in our group. Ann gave information as she drove along and a rapid fire commentary as we took a brisk tour of Arles. On our way to the coast we had a stop off to feed the horses (Ann provided cut up apples to feed to the horses. The drive continued south toward the sea. Oddly we drove to a seaside village but did not stop to get out..but made a U turn and drove to an aviary to see the beautiful flamingos. Driving to the beach town without seeing anything other than a quick glimpse of the ocean struck me as being a poor use of time. Everyone did enjoy seeing the flamingos. (Which we each had to pay additional euros for admittance). All of us enjoyed this stop. We were able to see many flamingos in various ponds which was wonderful for photos. We had a long drive back to Avignon. The total tour was 5 hours. My opinion is that Ann seemed annoyed from time to time during our tour. I believe this tour needs to be edited. Perhaps taking out the seaside drive thru..I mean what purpose did it serve?? We had no maps given to us for the walking tour of Arles (she was not prepared for the tour obviously). I’d either lengthen the tour or pare it down to fewer stops/sights. The tempo of the tour was not pleasing. Ann did a reasonable job but I couldn’t say it was a really good tour. Also, asking for a tip (which we graciously provided) was a bit much. It was an ok tour but not outstanding. I would recommend asking for a clear and defined description before booking.
