The rare crystals on display date back to the 19th century and range from the more mundane to the extravagant. The royal collection includes crystal chairs, sofas, tables and even beds.Later enjoy a boat ride on Lake Pichola, an artificial freshwater lake that has several islands on which are located palaces, family mansions and marble temples. You will be picked up from your hotel in the morning and driven to the City Palace where you will meet your Guide for the day. The Crystal Gallery houses a rare collection of crystals that Maharana Sajjan Singh ordered from F&C Osler & Co in England in 1877. The Maharana died before the collection arrived, and all the items stayed forgotten and packed up in boxes for 110 years. They were put on public display in 1994. The royal collection includes a number of objets d’art, dinner sets, perfume bottles, decanters, glasses, washing bowls and even furniture. There is a priceless Flora Danica dinner service that bears the royal insignia of the House of Mewar. Of the original Flora Danica service pieces delivered in 1803, 1,530 survive to the present day.
Next drive to Lake Pichola for a boat ride at sunset. Enjoy the view of the luxurious Lake Palace hotel situated on the island of Jag Niwas. This is one of the hotels where the James Bond film, Octopussy, was shot. Originally built in 1743 by Maharana Jagat Singh II, the palace was restored and converted into a hotel in 1963. End your tour with dinner at the Jag Mandir Palace hotel that is situated on an island of the same name. The Palace also known as the ‘Lake Garden Palace’ has an imposing entrance flanked by sculptures of eight elephants. After dinner take the boat for the return ride to the shore from where you will be driven back to your hotel.
