Costa Rica The Chela Cooking Experience

This had to be one of the highlights of our trip! My wife and I both know how to cook, but we learned so much from Chela is amazing! She is a wonderful person who obviously loves what she does! She cares for the Animals on her Farm and gave us a Tour when we arrived. The preparation and explanation as we went along was top notch! Her staff was great and the Food was plentiful and tasted absolutely amazing! This is 100% a must do if you are visiting Costa Rica!!!!

Wow! This was an incredible experience and the highlight of our trip. Chela is such an amazing woman. Her passion for food, her family, and her community shines through. You can't helped but be touched. This isn't just an incredible cooking class but somewhere that makes you feel like family. Chela was so open about her life that you just can't help being inspired by her. She has created a wonderful place and something very special. We absolutely loved her cooking class! Her recipes were easy to follow, she gave us new tips to try, and the conversation flowed. We will definitely be recreating these recipes in our kitchen. The food was amazing! This was one of my favorite experiences in Costa Rica. My kids (23,18 and 15) were a little hesitant when I told them I had booked a cooking class for dinner. They loved it! We enjoyed learning Chela’s family recipes and they were delicious! Chela is a wonderful teacher and host- she taught me a lot about Costa Rican history. This was such special time on our last night in Costa Rica. I can’t recommend this enough!

A unique cooking class with only good vibes from a very warm, creative, and empathetic host. Using our own traditional wood-fired stove, we received very interesting and delicious insights into Costa Rican cooking culture. I have not yet experienced anything comparable at this enchanting place. I am a star chef and provider of professional BBQ cooking classes in Germany, south of Munich in Königsdorf! We also had a tour through your very lovingly designed garden with animals, many frogs, and locally grown fruits and vegetables! She is also very socially engaged for her local community. I loved this experience so much. Chela is an amazing woman who loves to share her knowledge and love of food with others. She is so engaging and passionate about what she does. And she is doing so many good things in her community. She was hands on and let us do most of the cooking. This is 100% worth doing.

Chela and her team are fabulous! She has so much passion and love for cooking and it shines through during the class. She is very easy to talk to and enjoys sharing details of her life and family in La Fortuna. She's working on an expansion to her farm/garden which will include a night walk through when finished! You get to pick the meal you want to eat. I highly recommend making the Rice Pudding for dessert! It was the best I've ever had.

We had a lovely evening with Chela eating delicious food with good company. When we got there we got to pick what we would cook and Chela and her assistant walked us through how to make it. The ingredients were simple but everything was flavorful and delicious! She has a beautiful property and we would love to visit again if we are in the area. Thank you Chela!

This was a great experience! Chela's kitchen was wonderful. The atmosphere of her open air restaurant/kitchen was really unique. Each group of guests were able to choose what they wanted to make from Chela's cookbook and then we shared all the cooked food. It was a lot of fun to work with the other guests. Both my 15 and 13 year old enjoyed the experience. And the food was delicious!

A perfect experience making authentic Costa Rican food with a wonderful woman-Chela. Was relaxed and fun, got a tour of her garden after we stuffed our bellies so full! Highly recommend for adults/families/kids.
