Our adventure

It was a really cool to see the glowing water. Getting to the kayak launch was rough. It will beat you up before you get there, really really rough ride down a dirt road thats never been maintained. Nonstop holes that swallow 1/2 the bus. Then walk through poop mud barefoot. If your paddling with a kid who cant paddle be physically fit to keep up. Everyone has 2 paddlers in a yak so they move fast. Ive never seen anything like the glowing before so it was really neat but a workout to get there. The guide was great and patient!

Operator response

Thank you so much for your honest feedback and for sharing your experience. We’re really glad you enjoyed seeing the glowing water — it truly is a one-of-a-kind experience. We also appreciate your comments regarding the road and conditions getting out to the bay. Because the area is part of a protected natural reserve, access roads are rugged and maintained as minimally as possible to preserve the environment. The mud and uneven terrain are definitely part of the adventure, and we always recommend guests come prepared for a more natural outdoor experience. We’re happy to hear our guide helped make the tour enjoyable and was patient throughout the evening. And yes — kayaking can definitely be a workout, especially when paired with younger paddlers! Thank you again for choosing Fun Brothers and for sharing your experience with future travelers.

Breathtaking!!

Don’t miss this on your trip to the island! You will probably have to stay the night on the island if your main accommodations aren’t already here but, it will be worth it! GO ON THE DARKEST, DAY OF YOUR TRIP!!! this will make the experience that much better; if it is a full moon the bay will not be as bight as say a new moon! The tour guides were very kind and took their time explaining everything and keeping pace with the slower kayakers. I promise you won’t regret this experience!

Operator response

Thank you so much for the amazing review and for sharing such great advice for future travelers! You are absolutely right — darker moon phases really do make the Bio Bay experience even more incredible, and we always encourage guests to plan around the moon cycle when possible. We’re so happy to hear you enjoyed the tour and that our guides helped make the experience comfortable and enjoyable for everyone, no matter their kayaking pace. Thank you again for choosing Fun Brothers and for recommending us to others visiting Vieques. We truly appreciate it and hope to see you back on the island again someday! ✨

Magical Experience

This trip was worth it! It’s easy to find the meeting point where you will get on a bus to drive over a rutted, washed out road. The bay is quiet and warm and good for beginner kayakers. There are 2 in each boats. We had the bay to ourselves it seemed on the 8:15 tour. We had a star studded sky and every touch of the water glowed with diamond like light . The clear kayaks are a must. Carlos was our guide and he was both knowledgeable and supportive to boaters. He had fun bringing out jumping fish with his light.

Operator response

Thank you so much for your amazing review! We’re really glad to hear you had such a great experience — from the ride out to the calm, glowing waters and that beautiful star-filled sky. Those are the nights that truly make the Bio Bay unforgettable. Carlos will definitely appreciate your kind words. He takes a lot of pride in making sure everyone feels comfortable while also keeping things fun and engaging out there. And we agree — the clear kayaks really do take the experience to another level. Thank you again for choosing Fun Brothers, and we hope to welcome you back to Vieques soon! ✨

Transportation was all screwed up because of the parade but got on an earlier tour anyways. Cool experience not sure I’d do it again but will recommend to friends and family.

Operator response

Thank you for your feedback — we really appreciate you sharing your experience. We’re sorry about the transportation challenges that day. Events like parades can sometimes create unexpected delays, but we’re glad we were able to get you on an earlier tour and keep things moving. Happy to hear you still had a cool experience, and we truly appreciate you recommending us to your friends and family — that means a lot to our team. We hope to see you again if you’re ever back in Vieques!

Full moon

The trip was canceled because of the full moon making it too bright to see the bio luminescent at night.

Operator response

Thank you for your understanding. During full moon conditions, the brightness significantly reduces visibility in the bay, and to ensure guests have the best possible experience, tours are not operated during that time. We appreciate your flexibility and hope to have the opportunity to host you on a future visit when conditions are ideal.

Bad

I wish I had a positive thing to say as most people do. The problem was there was a full moon last night when we went so we couldn’t see ANY bioluminescence. I understand this is out of anyone’s control. What is in people’s control is taking people on a tour once a month during a full moon, knowing full well nothing will be seen. If the company knows they can’t see anything, then they should not offer the tour at full price. The people were nice. I just feel it’s dishonest to take our money knowing nothing will be seen.

Operator response

Thank you for your feedback — we truly appreciate you sharing your experience. You’re absolutely right that the visibility of the bioluminescence is heavily affected by the full moon, and we completely understand how disappointing that can be. To clarify, we normally do not operate tours during full moon conditions for this exact reason. In this case, it appears our booking system allowed reservations to go through on a date we should not have been operating, and we take responsibility for that. This has since been corrected. This is not the experience we want for our guests, and we agree that expectations should always match reality. We appreciate your kind words about our team, and we would welcome the opportunity to make this right if you’re open to it. Please feel free to reach out to us directly.
