Itinerary
After your ship arrives in Zeebrugge, take the free port shuttle to the cruise terminal. Your driver picks you up outside the terminal. From there, relax during the approximately 30-minute transfer to the medieval city of Bruges.
Upon reaching Bruges, you will meet your professional English-speaking local guide near the historic center to begin your guided walking tour. Starting at Bargeplein, the route leads through the scenic Minnewater Park, including a stop at the well-known “Lake of Love,” considered one of the city’s most romantic locations. The tour then continues past the historic Begijnhof Bridge (Begijnhofbrug) toward the UNESCO-listed Beguinage. Here, you can walk through the tranquil courtyard, view the traditional white-painted houses, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this medieval complex, once inhabited by a religious women’s community. The route is generally flat but includes uneven cobblestone streets, therefore comfortable walking shoes are advised. Please note that this tour is not recommended for guests with limited mobility.
A highlight of the tour includes a stop at a beloved and famous chocolate store, where you will receive a Belgian praline to enjoy on-the-go. Belgium is world-famous for its chocolate, celebrated for its artisanal techniques, smooth texture, and centuries-old chocolate-making heritage. Please note: the chocolate stop includes a traditional Belgian praline tasting to enjoy on the go. This is not a chocolate-making demonstration or a seated tasting experience.
The Gruuthusemuseum is one of those beautiful historic buildings that instantly catches your eye, with its elegant medieval design, charming windows, and lovely location along the canals. It was once the home of the Gruuthuse family, one of the most important and influential families in Bruges, making it a perfect photo stop.
This is the view you probably picture when you think of Bruges: beautiful Gothic buildings, willow trees hanging over the canals, and the Belfry reflected in the water. It’s the perfect place to stop for a photo or simply take a moment to enjoy one of the city’s most iconic views.
As you step into Bruges’s historic Market Square, you’ll be surrounded by colorful old guild houses, busy cafés, and the lively atmosphere that makes the city feel so unique. Rising above the square is the famous Belfry Tower, one of Bruges’s best-known landmarks and a reminder of the city’s rich medieval past. Nearby, you’ll also see the Basilica of the Holy Blood, a beautiful historic church famous for its treasured relic, which is believed to contain the blood of Jesus Christ.
Your visit continues at the Bruges Beer Experience, where you will discover Belgium’s rich brewing traditions. During your visit, enjoy 4 local beers included while learning about Belgian beer culture, brewing history, and local traditions. Your guide will also share interesting stories that bring Bruges’s beer heritage to life in a fun and engaging way. After the tasting, you will have approximately one hour of free time to enjoy Bruges at your own pace. You may choose to stay longer at the Bruges Beer Experience for additional beers or lunch at your own expense, or explore the nearby Market Square, shops, and charming streets independently. Please note: four beer tastings are included in the tour price. Additional food or drinks can be purchased separately. After the experience, your guide will wave you goodbye and point out the exact meeting location where you will reconnect with your driver for the return transfer to the cruise port.
Bruges’s historic Market Square is the lively heart of the city, surrounded by colorful medieval buildings, cafés, shops, and the famous Belfry Tower. At this point, your guide will say goodbye and clearly explain the exact meeting point and timing for your return transfer back to the ship.

Jan the guide and Benjamin the bus driver were awesome. Jan is a wealth of information and very passionate about his city of Brugge. Gave us insight on where to go! Also bought us some chocolates as a treat! One word of advice: make sure you ask for bathroom breaks. Jan doesn’t appear to remember that people needed those breaks!
We had a great time. Very Knowledgeable. Very kind. My Grandson liked his Bear Vincent. So nice to give out free chocolates and beer and water at the end of the tour.
Good walking tour of central and historic Bruges. The guides were knowledgeable. I recommend the canal cruise option as the boat operator provides additional insights from the water side.
Dear Christine, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review—we’re really pleased to hear that you enjoyed the tour and found value in the canal cruise option as well. Awesome town, wish we had a couple of days here!! Great excursion from Vexperio, our guide was super knowledgeable and friendly. Some of our group did the optional canal cruise and enjoyed it quite a bit for photos they could take but a lot of the information discussed was already covered by our guide, so you decide. A LOT of walking on cobblestones, which they tell you in the description so listen to it!!!
Excellent overview of Bruges. If you only have a day in port, this tour is the perfect introduction to a city you really don’t want to leave.
Yves our guide was incredible! So knowledgeable and patient. We loved this stunning little town. Had some great Belgian beers, waffles, bought lots of chocolate (Yves took us to all the best shops) and the 30 minute canal cruise was breathtaking. Would love to return.
Dear Katherine, it’s wonderful to hear you had such a great time in Bruges! We’d love to welcome you back someday for more unforgettable moments. Warm regards, Kinga Vexperio
