A lovely introduction to beautiful Chester with its hidden surprises, amazing history and delicious food. A wonderful experience.
Brilliant way to explore the gastronomic delights of Chester, championing the independents! We are all local to the area and it really opened our eyes to the variety and quality of places to eat and drink that we had never been to before. Steph is an excellent guide, nothing was rushed. She took time to both entertain and instruct us on the history of Chester and the background to the food venues we visited. Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon! Highly recommend. We will be back! Tips- wear comfy shoes and plan for 5 hours or more of exploring.
We had a lovely time on the food tour in Chester. Steph looked after us so well and made sure we were happy and engaged in the soaring heat! A great range of cuisine and all delicious. The vendors and restaurant owners talked to us as well so we felt very special and we felt at the end, not only wonderfully satisfied but with a great appreciation of Chester and its food scene. Highly recommend.
Fabulous day and week worth the money. Our guide was the best and so knowledgeable about the places and the history of Chester. Would definitely recommend.
We had a wonderful experience on a Chester on a plate tour. I bought the tour as birthday gifts for my husband and my brother-in-law, as I was looking for something a little different. We were joined by two lovely sisters who had come from Halifax to visit Chester and the tour. Although we grew up near Chester we learnt a few new things about the city along the way. The independent venues we visited were varied from hot smoked salmon and Thai to gelato. Each venue provided us with excellent food or drink giving us a small taster of their menus. The stand out for me had to be the pistachio gelato from Krum Gelato, the best I’ve ever tasted. Our guide Giada was a last minute stand in for Steph who was unfortunately ill, Giada was knowledgeable and entertaining, the perfect host for a most enjoyable day.
We had a great time with our guide Giada who was a bubbly mine of information about the history of Chester. The food locations were excellent and it was interesting to talk to some of the proprietors about their business. We will return to some of locations we which we would not have known about if not for this tour. Our communication with Steph was excellent who arranged alternative food for one of our party who is gluten free.
Had a great afternoon meeting new people and sampling dishes in restaurants I had not even considered going to before. The added bonus was learning about Chester Great way to spend the day
Giada was a fantastic tour guide- warm and friendly with lots of knowledge of Chester. The food was really tasty and a good selection of eateries!
I went with my mum on a very rainy day in June and had the best time despite the rain. Steph is so knowledgeable on food and drink and of course the history of Chester . We went to some lovely places that we never knew excited and will be back for sure. Thank you Step for such a fun day
Steph was a fantastic guide, leading our group through the city while sharing fascinating stories and historical insights that brought Chester to life. The tour struck a perfect balance between local history, beautiful walks and, of course, excellent food. We met at Greenhouse by Chester Town Hall before making our way around the city. Along the route, we visited Thai Tapas where I had a great Thai wine, walked through the stunning Chester Cathedral, explored the Rows, and enjoyed the choice of an ice cream or a beer. One of the highlights was walking along Chester’s historic walls on the way to Brewery Tap for a delicious mini steak pie. The tour finished with a beautiful cheesecake made from local ingredients, which was the perfect ending to the experience. As I’m writing this, I’m still thinking about that cheesecake and would gladly have another ten slices. Unfortunately, it had been made specifically for Steph’s tour, making it both memorable and frustratingly unavailable. Steph’s knowledge, enthusiasm and sense of humour made the afternoon engaging from start to finish. I came away having discovered some wonderful independent eateries and learnt far more about Chester than I ever expected. Highly recommended for both visitors and locals alike. You’ll leave well fed and with a newfound appreciation for this remarkable city.
