Not recommended at all

Met up & pd in 1 spot but had to walk a few blocks to meet carriage (lack of convenience) If you sit in 3rd or 4th row cannot hear your guide at all, there is no microphone or anything he’s just talking over street noise & such. Only went down streets & passed some houses… I rainbow row…barely saw a park I believe may have been the battery but no history on actual architecture or anything real. Would not recommend this tour at all…maybe a walking tour better if you want real historic sightseeing & time to take pictures in front of different areas.

Highly Recommend

Caroline did an amazing job of telling the history of the Charleston architecture. We enjoyed her humor and side stories.

Charleston Horse & Carriage Historic Sightseeing Tour By Carolina Polo and Carriage Company

Wonderful experience ! Our tour guide provided a great amount of detail about the historic homes, gardens, churches, architecture, historic preservation rules & Charleston history from pre-Revolutionary war, War of 1812, Civil war, to today. All staff we encountered were helpful, friendly & seemed to love what they were doing. We passed a lot of other carriages in the historic area. All THE HORSES ! were awesome, beautiful, gentle, and performed magnificently. Linda, Raleigh, NC

unforgettable horse and carriage ride in Charleston

Our family recently went on the most amazing horse and carriage tour of Charleston. The tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating stories about the city, and the pace of the tour was just perfect, allowing us to take in all the beautiful sights and historic streets. The horses themselves were well-trained, calm, and added to the overall charm of the experience. One small drawback was that the tour schedule wasn’t as precise as advertised. While the site mentioned tours left every 30 minutes, we ended up waiting 45 minutes for our departure even though we arrived early. We sat on the bench while waiting, but it was a bit frustrating to see last-minute arrivals getting first choice of seats, especially since our kids were eager to sit up front. Adjusting the boarding process could make the experience smoother for families.Despite this minor issue, the overall experience was memorable and enjoyable. The combination of historical insights, scenic streets, and the connection to Charleston through the horses made it a highlight of our trip. We would definitely recommend this tour to families and visitors looking to enjoy the city's charm in a relaxed, guided way.

I want a refund

Guide was horrible and wasn’t loud enough . Couldn’t hear anything he said . I have taken this tour before and it was a lot more informative. He didn’t give many facts about Charleston. I was disappointed because I wanted to share this experience with my daughter. It really ruined the rest of my day because it upset me that I spent nearly $100 for less than an hour tour. Waste of my money!

Good time.

The driver gave some incorrect historical information, but he was very entertaining. The desk man, John, was very nice.

Great experience if you want to learn a bit of Charleston history

Recently my family including kids 11 and 9 years old had a carriage tour with Daniel and Chico (horse). We were met and escorted to the carriage. Overall the carriage fit about 10 people. The excursion took about 1 h 15 min. The guide was very nice, he shared a lot of interesting details we would never know if we just explored Charleston downtown by ourselves. Sunscreen is recommended even though carriages have tops - moving around by the downtown streets sometimes we were in the shade and sometimes not. They start working at 9:30, I’d recommend go early if you are planning to do that during summertime. Our tour started at 10 am, it was in the middle of June and it was very hot. Overall it was a positive experience! I definitely recommend!

Amigo and young lady

Amigo was the horse, can't remember the young lady's name, but she was awesome. Great tour, she was knowledgeable of the area. The office looks shady and it's really small at 45 Pinckney Street, however, they gave a great tour. Well worth your time to invest $50 per person. Parking in the area is a nightmare, however, there is a city parking deck beside the office and around the corner from the office.
