I wish I could rate this higher because the guys on the boat were so great and the trip had potential. We had 3 kids with us under 10. The whole point of the trip was so my 7 & 9 year old could snorkel (which they’ve done before in the Bahamas). Apparently it’s federal regulation here that you must be over 10 to snorkel. My kids were super upset that they had to stay on boat. They weren’t even allowed to jump off boat to swim in water. I wouldn’t have booked a snorkel excursion if I knew they couldn’t snorkel. Also, at the stop with the food/pool, my 7 year old wasn’t allowed to swim in pool without a life vest because of his height. You had to be 4ft tall to SWIM!! He’s a super strong swimmer so this made him upset too. Overall, had potential but not an excursion for active kids.
We booked through our resort. The boat, deck hands, drinks and lunch were wonderful! The current is very strong so I wasn't able to snorkel or swim at the drop offs. I am not a strong swimmer. You are dropped off a good distance from the reef and have to swim over. The boat then comes over to pick you up so you don't have to swim back to it. The island is very crowded and there isn't much room in the water as it is roped off a couple hundred feet from shore. It is very hot so be prepared. Lots of walking. There are tons of souvenir shops, restaurants and food carts of all kinds. They are on island time so make sure you aren't sitting down to eat 20 min before the boat is due back to get you. You can rent a golf cart to tour the island. I would recommend because you get 3 hours and there just isn't that much to do. We couldn't find any beach chairs to rent so you just carried your stuff and dropped it where ever to jump in the water. Items in the shops are cheaper than at the resort so bring plenty of cash for food, drinks and gifts. There is a free tequila tasting at the shop where the boat drops you off. That was nice. Everyone there will try the " I remember you. I am the bar tender at." Dont fall for it. They are trying to lure you into their shop or what ever they want to sell you. They see the bracelet you have on. They do not work at your resort.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the boat trip, the crew, and the refreshments. We understand the challenges with the strong currents and crowded conditions on the island. For future visits, we recommend considering a golf cart rental to explore more comfortably within the allotted time. We appreciate your feedback regarding the souvenir prices and the caution about island time. Our team aims to provide the best experience possible, and we'll take your suggestions into account to enhance our services. Should you decide to explore more of what we offer, whether it's another boat trip or a different excursion, we'd be delighted to assist you further. Your satisfaction is our priority, and we look forward to the opportunity to host you again soon!
