Your tour begins at the beautifully preserved Basilica of San Clemente where we descend over five stories underground. You will learn about Medieval popes and secret Pagan rituals admiring artistic masterpieces from the 2nd century AD until the 15th century AD. Explore mysterious religions and even discover fresh water sources that lie deep in the earth!

Led by your expert guide, hop on a pre-booked taxi that will then take you to one of the most well-known graveyards in Italy. Descend this ancient Christian burial ground and explore the narrow tunnels filled with empty graves – an ongoing point of fascination for historians. This part of the visit will be in a larger group, led by one of the Catacombs official guides. Finally, at the end of the tour you will be driven back to the center of Rome by a pre-booked taxi.

Great tour Andy did a wonderful job
We visited Rome in June during the heat wave. I booked this tour sort of last minute to replace an ebike tour I cancelled due to the heat. I could not be happier with the tour - it exceeded my expectations! I brought a book thinking I would maybe visit one stop and then just sit with my book while my husband continued on, but I never got to my book. 😂 A truly unique experience in Rome (and a great way to beat the heat!). Our guide Marco was fantastic!! Hands down our favorite guide we have had in Rome! I would definitely request him for this tour if possible. We did the private tour with our 2 boys (10 and 12). They also thought Marco was “W” (i.e., awesome) and enjoyed the tour. Thanks, Marco!
This was one of the most interesting tours of our trip to Rome. Marco’s knowledge of each site (San Clemente, the catacombs, and the Capuchin Crypt) allowed us to get the most out of the experience. We hit a lot of traffic in between sites and Marco and our driver, Cristiano, went above and beyond to make sure we got to experience each site, keeping a sense of humor the entire time.
Very informational tour. The guide was humorous and provided a great deal of both historic and religious background of the sites. I highly recommend.
We had a great time and learned a lot about Roman history and especially the catacombs. Tiffany was great and very knowledgeable.
AJ was super engaging with the kids, and the hotel pick-up made it especially ideal for our first afternoon in the city.
The catacombs tour with Whiskey was great! The history of the church and the layers below was such a unique experience. Although my teenagers were disappointed that there were no skulls to see in the catacombs, the tour overall was fascinating. Whisky was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend!
