The Halászbástya or Fisherman's Bastion is one of the best known monuments in Budapest, located in the Buda Castle, in the 1st district of Budapest. It is one of the most important tourist attractions due to the unique panorama of Budapest from the Neo-Romanesque lookout terraces.
The Church of the Assumption of the Buda Castle (Hungarian: Nagyboldogasszony-templom), more commonly known as the Matthias Church (Hungarian: Mátyás-templom), more rarely the Coronation Church of Buda, is a Roman Catholic church located in the Holy Trinity Square, Budapest, Hungary, in front of the Fisherman's Bastion at the heart of Buda's Castle District.
The Budapest Castle Hill Funicular or Budavári Sikló is a funicular railway in the city of Budapest, in Hungary. It links the Adam Clark Square and the Széchenyi Chain Bridge at river level to Buda Castle above.
Located near Matthias Church and Fisherman’s Bastion, the Holy Trinity Statue can be found in the middle of Trinity Square. The column commemorates the people of Buda who died from two outbreaks of the Black Plague.
Buda Castle (Hungarian: Budavári Palota, German: Burgpalast) is the historical castle and palace complex of the Hungarian kings in Budapest. It was first completed in 1265, but the massive Baroque palace today occupying most of the site was built between 1749 and 1769.
Matthias Fountain (Hungarian: Mátyás kútja, German: König Mathias Brunnen) is a monumental fountain group in the western forecourt of Buda Castle, Budapest. Our guide, Leslie/Laszlo, was very informative and provided a richer understanding of Hungary’s history. Much more than touring the castle on your own. He answered all our questions and provided humorous moments throughout the tour. The tour was well paced. I would highly recommend this tour and if you have the opportunity to have Leslie as your guide, take it!
Not only were the views of the Castle area exceptional, so was our guide, Kaiser Leslie. He explained many of the urban myths and legends along with historical facts,
My wife, daughter and I loved this tour! We visited many cities during our recent vacation and Budapest was our favorite, partly because of this tour. Leslie picked us up at our AirBnB and guided us to the bus, which took us to the Buda Castle District. He shared the fascinating and complex story of Hungary and Budapest and really brought history to life. The break at the cafe for cake and drinks was a really nice (and delicious) touch. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn about Budapest have a great time in the process!
We had the private Buda Castle Walking Tour with Adam Katai and it was nothing short of AMAZING!! Adam was prompt courteous and so knowledgeable . He took us to some really cool hidden places. The tour was well paced and we saw so much and learned a lot about the Hungarian culture. I can’t recommend this tour and Adam enough.
We had a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. The castle district is interesting, but most of the buildings are in the middle of refurbishment. It was good to hear the history of the buildings and the castles, but it was not as engaging as we had hoped. That said, it’s a great way to learn the history of the Buda side and the castles district.
Ferenc was great. He was on time, interesting to talk to, and friendly. Unfortunately, we had to cut our tour very short due to a family emergency. Ferenc was very accommodating. He helped us back to our hotel and advised us with logistics. Highly recommended tour overall.
A very thorough and pleasant tour. Our guide was very helpful and friendly - highly recommend Leslie to be your guide as he is knowledgeable and very helpful!
Our guide László was very knowledgeable and personable. He guided us expertly on the public transportation, shared lots of history and made the tour personal for us. We enjoyed our casual conversation during cake and coffee at a nice cafe. We were very pleased
We were the only participants so had a “private tour” and guide tailored the tour to what we wanted to see and do. He even guided us 45min longer than we had booked! Then helped us get a taxi back to our hotel (as by then we were hot and tired). And my awful as I can not remember his name but will say he is kind and very knowledgeable guide! Highly recommend!
Ferenc was our guild for the tour . It was our first full day in Budapest and he enabled us to feel part of this beautiful city. Very knowledgable, we explored Buda Castle district with ease, with so much to see on a hot day . It could not have been better organised.
