Caribbean Highlights Shore Excursion from Limon
Description
During this tour, you will get to experience some of Limon's main activities in one day. You will visit a local rainforest from a unique point of view: the Tortuguero Canals! On this tour you will witness a great diversity of wildlife from our boat (monkeys, aquatic birds, iguanas, basilisks, and maybe sloths). Remember, this is Nature! Sometimes spotting animals may depend on weather conditions and tidal hours. Then we will visit an organic farm with a small banana plantation; we'll see several types of exotic fruit trees, immersed in tropical nature, and learn about the Caribbean culture, taking a sightseeing tour around Limon town. At the end of the tour, there is an optional visit to Playa Bonita beach, where you can relax and enjoy the sea breeze and the amazing lusciousness of Costa Rican nature while embracing the local culture and living the pura vida lifestyle powered by Calypso music.

At round 9:30 am, you will head to the Tortuguero Canals where you can spot dozens of aquatic birds and hopefully monkeys and other mammals.
You can end the day at Playa Bonita where we can enjoy some of the warm Caribbean waters followed by a city tour of Limon.

Pickup Locations & Times
Upon debarkation, please look for our GioTours representative, who will be waiting for you at the yellow pier gate following the white stripes on the ground, located after the souvenir market. Our representative will be wearing khaki pants and a white button-down shirt with the GioTours logo on it and will be holding a sign that says "GioTours" with your name on it. We kindly request that all guests please plan to be at the designated meeting location at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time listed above.

Book this excursion! Don't even think about booking one through the cruise line. This is a much better excursion and more reasonably priced. Juan is an excellent tour guide and David is an excellent driver. We saw it all - birds, a caiman, a crocodile, a sloth, and howler monkeys! Juan is very knowledgeable about the plants and animals of Costa Rica. He will not make something up if he doesn't know the answer. He and David travel from San Jose, CR to do this tour. They were waiting for us at the designated time with a sign. I booked this excursion because of the reviews and the six of us travelling together were very satisfied.
We just experienced THE BEST shore excursion we have ever been on! Juan Miguel with Gio Tours Costa Rica was our private driver for the day. He more than exceeded our expectations ! Juan was very knowledgeable about his home country and took us to beautiful sights and adventures throughout the day. Juan, our guide, did an excellent job sharing info and taking us to great sites in Limón, Costa Rica. We took a great safari boat ride and saw a sloth, iguanas, howling monkeys and several bird species. The plantation visit was awesome! We learned about local fruits, coffee and sugar cane.
Our guide Juan made for the most wonderful tour in Limon today during our cruise stop! The highlight of getting up close to the baby sloth on the boat tour was outstanding! Grateful for this experience in your country.

Juan with Gio Tours was a great travel guide. Antonio was the driver and also took great photographs during the canal ride. We saw at least two sloths, a baby crocodile, many birds, and several monkeys.

We loved this excursion. Juan met us at the port and made us feel comfortable. He was clear in his explanations, was very knowledgeable and always asked if we had questions before continuing. We are always curious about the guides and their backgrounds. And if course, we asked and he was nice enough to share. Great tour and Juan was fun.

It was just ok. I’ve been on many Viator tours and this wasn’t one to recommend. The canal boat ride wasn’t very impressive
