Description
During an immersive and interactive tour on three levels, guided by your audio guide translated into 11 languages, you will discover the benefits of potatoes and its applications in a fun and educational way. The visit begins in Peru, the country of origin of the potato. You will then travel around the world to discover the evolution of potato cultivation in South America and Europe. Halfway through, you will pass the border crossing that will take you to Frietland, where you will discover not only the history of "made in Belgium" fries, but also all the traditions and folklore associated with the universe of Belgian fries. The tour ends with a visit to our chip shop, where you can taste our delicious fries, cooked according to Belgian tradition.

An immersive and interactive space of 900 m2 entirely dedicated to the universe of Belgian fries and its flagship ingredient: potatoes. Frietmuseum Brussels is a fun, didactic and gourmet museum that offers a journey through the history, culture and traditions of this emblematic delicacy of Belgium. Through more than 1600 Collections items, interactive games, films and testimonials from fryers, you will discover not only the history of the potato but also the evolution of the fries over time, as well as the secrets of its perfect cooking. The visit concludes with the tasting of real Belgian fries, cooked in the rules of the art. We did not expect much from this museum; what is there to say about French fries? Instead, we stayed for two hours, but it could have been many more given how much there was to see. Interactive museum, great for my 3-year-old, but also for adults, with many things to listen to with an audio guide (included in the ticket price and in several languages) and to touch/try out. In the end, they give you a portion of fries with unlimited sauce refills to eat inside the museum. They say small portion, but I would say it is quite generous for us. There was no crowd; it was a Tuesday during lunchtime, and we were practically the only visitors, but that was better for us.

Do not be fooled by the somewhat "touristy" appearance of the entrance: this museum is a gem!! You will truly learn everything about the history of fries and their ingredient, the potato, thanks to impressive collections (objects, decorations, tools) and short, educational, and fun explanations, where the audio guide also allows you to play several small games. Plenty of well-executed ideas! And the tasting to finish is really great: the cone of fries cooked in vegetable or beef fat, your choice, is the final touch, offered by a very friendly guide. Great experience, I really recommend it.

I would like to give this museum 10 stars... Done very well, the audio guide is in Italian, there are many interactive activities and games for children but above all an unparalleled tasting of real Belgian chips... Absolutely recommended!
