Itinerary

180 min

After a safe and scenic drive from Paris to northern Belgium, you’ll arrive in the medieval centre of Bruges, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its canals, cobbled streets and beautifully preserved Flemish façades. Follow your guide on a walking tour through the old town before enjoying free time to explore on your own, have lunch and discover the city at your own pace.

Admission included30 min

Enjoy a canal cruise, offering the best views of Bruges’ medieval façades and most iconic photo spots (every day from April to October). In winter, the cruise is replaced by a visit to the Gothic Hall of the Town Hall, and the city transforms into a magical setting with Christmas lights, markets and festive decorations.

30 min

Visit Market Square, the lively heart of Bruges, lined with colourful guild houses, cafés and bustling terraces. It’s one of the best places to feel the city’s everyday rhythm, from passing locals and visitors to horse-drawn carriages and open-air cafés.

Admission not included5 min

Then turn your eyes to the Belfry, the tower that dominates the square and once served as Bruges’ main watchtower and symbol of power. Your guide will point out its key features and share stories about its role in medieval life, as well as show you where to find some of the most famous fry stands (frietkoten) if you’d like to try authentic Belgian fries.

Admission not included20 min

A peaceful complex of whitewashed houses and a quiet green courtyard founded in 1245. Once home to Beguines – independent laywomen who lived a devout but unmarried life – it is now inhabited by Benedictine nuns and a few Bruges women. Your guide will explain the history of the beguinage and why it is part of UNESCO’s protected heritage. It’s an oasis of calm just a short walk from the canals and one of the most atmospheric places in Bruges.

10 min

Stop at Rozenhoedkaai, one of the most photographed viewpoints in Bruges, where canals, façades, trees and bridges form a perfect postcard scene. From here you can really understand why Bruges is called the “Venice of the North.”

10 min

Then continue towards the Lake of Love (Minnewater), a romantic lake with swans and historic buildings that once formed the old harbour of medieval Bruges. Both spots are ideal moments for photos and for simply soaking up the city’s atmosphere before or after your free time.

My husband and I had a great experience. The tour guide, Andres, was knowable and attentive to all of our questions and our needs - considering it was a warm day in August.

Clerical Error prevented us from taking this trip

We showed up at the meeting place on Jluy 31 @ 7am with our confirmation and several emails from the company counting down to our trip date. However when the guide showed up to collect all passengers, our names were not on his list. Checking in with the office we were told that our names were on the list for August 1. The company was apologetic and we received a complete refund in a couple of days.

I liked Bruges more than Paris!

The ride from Paris to Bruges alone is worth it. Cheaper, faster and more comfortable than public transportation. My only regret is not Having more time in Bruges! The city is a dream. Take a pillow to sleep in the car. Our guide was a little hard to hear for the back row in the car, and his thick accent made it hard to understand everything he said. But that being said he was very nice and knowledgeable- he shared some great shops and restaurants.

Extraordinary trip with France Tourisme and the Guide Vivian

The experience was unique. An unforgettable trip for me and my whole family. Guide Vivian was extremely attentive and competent in his work. He had a great concern in making himself understandable, both by speaking clearly and slowly English, and by applying Spanish in the attempt to communicate.

Operator response

Excellent but quiet trip

Bruges is absolutely worth visiting!!! The city is gorgeous. I wish we traveled there with a large bus versus 2 small white vans with no commentary; just a quiet 4 hour ride. The guides were nice enough though.

Operator response

Bonjour, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are delighted to hear that you found Bruges to be such a beautiful destination and that you appreciated the kindness of our guides. We also appreciate your comments regarding the transportation. Our excursions are sometimes operated in comfortable minibuses rather than large coaches, allowing for a more flexible and personalized experience. As indicated in the tour description, commentary is provided by the guide once in Bruges rather than during the journey. Nevertheless, we understand that you would have enjoyed more information on the way and we value your suggestion. We hope to welcome you again on another adventure, perhaps on our excursion to Mont Saint-Michel or during a guided tour of the Louvre Museum. Kind regards, Alice de France Tourisme
