Description
Uncover East Java's treasure mount Bromo on a 1-day private adventure tour. Observe Bromo's magnificent landscape while the sun is rising at mount Pananjakan, marvelling at the grey-greyish Sea of Sand, undertake the hike to the crater of the active volcano Bromo, and explore the hidden Madakaripura Waterfalls on your way back to Surabaya. Mount Bromo is a top attraction with its local horse men, the Luhur Poten temple in the Sea of Sand, and the astonishing views while being in the ancient caldera. As you walk to the top of mount Bromo, you learn to understand the mighty powers of mother earth and the ancient roots of the Tengger people.

Itinerary
Our drivers are located throughout East and Central Java, and Bali. Our physical office is located in Malang city, 90 km south of Surabaya.
You will be picked up at 00:00 - midnight - in Surabaya. Either at your hotel, the train station or at the airport. In about 2 to 3 hours you will drive by private car to Cemara Lawang village. There you will change cars. By private 4WD Jeep you continue to the viewpoint at mount Penanjakan. Enjoy a coffee break with a hot cup of coffee or tea and a local snack before the sun rises. The weather conditions determine the colours in the sky. Bring some warm clothes as it is cold early morning, between 0 and 10 degrees Celsius.
At around 06:00 you continue to mount Bromo. You will cross the unearthly moonlike caldera in which mount Bromo resides. The northern part of this caldera consists in a volcanic ashen greyish-grey Sea of Sand. Feel free to ask the driver to stop if you like to take a walk in this landscape.
The Jeep parks near Luhur Poten temple. This temple is still actively used during ceremonies. Most often it is closed, but you can peek in. If it is open, ask for permission to enter.
Then it will be a 45 minutes walk to the top of mount Bromo - one way. Look back every now and then. Not only to grab your breath, but also to consume the ever changing landscape. One can always rent a horse, if you don't like walking (not included - about IDR 100,000). Standing at the top of this active volcano is an awe-inspiring experience. When you return to your Jeep, your driver is waiting for you. You will head back to Cemara Lawang village where you will have breakfast. After breakfast you change back to your comfortable car to start your return journey to Surabaya.
These enchanting waterfalls are located on route to Surabaya. The walk is fairly easy and takes only about 30 min one way. But... be ready to get wet. If you have time, you can visit these sacred waterfalls. If time isn't sufficient, e.g. you have to catch a flight, you will directly return to Surabaya.
After the tour you will return to Surabaya city. We can drop you anywhere; hotel, train station or airport. If you wish to go to Malang, we can drop you in Malang.

We spent a magical experience at Bromo during the sunrise and the rest. A lot of people but because it was in July and during the week-end but still awesome and beautiful :-) Helios did the best to make us cumfortable. They borrowed us jacket for the cold, water, breakfast, snacks. Furthermore, I asked them for others tours/transfer in Java and they always answered to me and proposed me good advices and prices.

When you book tours online it's difficult to get exactly what you paid for. In this case we got even more. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. We have a very good time with our driver Herry going from surabaya to cemoro lawang and back without any delay or problem. The tour itself was unforgettable: we have seen the sunrise from king kong hill (we were very lucky because the visibility was perfect) and then went for a trek to reach the volcano and see the inside (more or less the tour started at 3 am and ended at 9 am). Many thanks to our guide Dyva (sorry if it is misspelled) who was perfect and very kind. 100% recommended!

very good experience. The driver Wiwin spoke good English. The Bromo sunrise is fantastic, the water fall is also amazing but the park of water fall is not well maintained otherwise should have better experience.

Started at 1am, quick ride out of the city which leads to a lot of off-roading. Forget about your plans to take a nap in the car😂 super cold up there. Carry your own jackets or you can rent it up at the viewpoint. I experienced a temperature of 7C. Beautiful view. The guide that was assigned took us to the best possible viewpoint. Amaze!! Came back down exploded the volcano crater then went and explored the valley fields. Everything was taken care of and we just existed haha. Join their tour.

Trip was tiring, mainly because I flew in to Sby Friday night and was picked up the same night to head to Bromo. The guide Dian was great, everything was explained and also taken care of. If you can't speak a word of bahasa, you definitely need to get a guide like Dian. The waterfall was awesome and somewhat more enjoyable than watching the sunrise over bromo?!
The tour was fantastic and effortless, but maybe that’s not helpful to you. What might be: I was having trouble booking a train ticket out of Surabaya for the next day, so when I arrived at the airport to wait for the tour I didn’t have onward travel. My guide, Yuli, took me all around the city from convenience stores to offices to the train station trying to get me out the next day. He did this without being asked, and without expecting anything for it. When solo, these are the things that really make you feel good. Thanks a lot Yuli!
I booked a sunrise tour to Mount Bromo, where I was picked up and dropped back off at Surabaya airport. We drove to the national park, slept in the car for a couple of hours, then switched to a jeep to start the journey. As we were early, we stopped off for a breakfast of noodles, tempe and coffee, which my tour guide Nico very kindly paid for (I was definitely not expecting him to!). After watching the sunrise, Nico left me to climb Bromo myself which was very straightforward. As a piece of advice, it is cold watching the sunrise but then as you walk across the sand to climb Bromo, it gets very hot very quickly - I would recommend wearing layers so that you can strip off as it warms up. Also note that you will definitely end up with black dust/sand in every part of your body, the worst was up my nose! Nico was lovely, stopping on the drive whenever I wanted to and making sure I was comfortable so that I could sleep in the car. He even stopped at one point when we were in a remote area to show me the stars which was amazing. Overall, I had an amazing time and would definitely recommend.
