amazing tour with Shambu. we saw many animals (gazelles, black buck, peacock, camels), got to try weaving as well as pottery (after watching impressive demonstrations), had a wonderful meal, met his family and visited a textile recycling workshop. it was overall a really nice experience, Shambu was a great guide (informative and thoughtful) as well as a talented driver (not too much honking haha). we would recommend!! it was nice to visit the Bishnoi village as well as the artisan cooperatives with a local.
Very disappointing experience. We promise you an authentic 4h tour, with immersion in the local customs and habits. As a result, they carry you in a jeep workshop / shop in workshop / shop, you never immerse yourself in the local culture except through crafts. We imagined being welcomed with a family, chatting with them, seeing a village on foot... none of this. All in less than 3h30 door to door. So count in all and for all 2 hours of jeep ride! The guide is only a driver who explains no more than what is learned in the books, and seemed no more excited by the visit than the antelope to see us. Fortunately the first part was good, with a walk in the plain of antelope. But it doesn't make up for the disappointment of the second part...
Excellent experience! The village visits were informative and delightful; an added bonus to see some unusual wildlife in the area. Our guide Omprekash was fluent in English, and conducted the tour professionally and helpfully. Would highly recommend this tour!
Extraordinary hospitality A must visit for family very good authentic rajasthan home made food And without any hurry complete village life experience
A visit to the Bishnoi villages was a wonderful way to experience rural life in Rajasthan. The arrangements were smooth, our tour guide, Mr. Shambhu took us around in his jeep, stopping at different places where we could observe everyday village activities. We visited a pottery-making family, a village textile unit that did block printing using natural dye and finally went to Mr. Shambu’s home in a village where they weaved beautiful rugs made out of cotton, coir or camel wool. At the pottery stop, we even got a chance to try making a pot ourselves. Although we could buy rugs or textiles, there was absolutely no pressure to do so. The tour ended with a homely lunch at Mr. Shambhu’s house where we met his father who runs the weaving business, his sister in law who cooks delicious Rajasthani food, his niece Jiya who was such a cutie lil girl with whom we had fun. Mr. Shambhu also took us for a safari where we witnessed Blackbucks, Chinkaras and baby deers. Mr. Shambhu proved to be an excellent guide, full of joy, sharing deep knowledge about Bishnoi traditions, the local culture, vegetation, and wildlife.
A good way to see life in rural Rajasthan with a visit to the Bishnoi villages. All arrangements for collection worked smoothly and Deepak took us in his jeep to a tour of the villages with four stops. We saw daily life as well as stops at a family making pottery especially the spherical water holders, a family who made opium water and kept livestock, a family making rugs and finally a family business making textiles. At the pottery we were invited to try making a pot. Although we were offered to buy a rug or textiles there was no pressure. After the stops it was lunch at s local home which also served as an animal sanctuary. Deepak was a great guide - very knowledgeable about the ways of the Boshnoi and the local vegetation and animals.
It was a very pleasant experience to witness genuine rural life of Rajasthan. Highlights were the wildlife encounters with Blackbuck & the Potter's Wheel at work. Lovely 4 hour trip.
We opted for a village tour and wildlife safari package in the afternoon, provided by the homestay which we thoroughly enjoyed with animal sightings like Nilgai, Blackbuck, Gazelle, Fox, Camel, dancing Peacocks and numerous Birds. The package also included visits to the Potters village, Weavers village etc.
We had amazing day tour and hospitality by OM ji and Shamburam ji, both brothers are extremely friendly and professional. We booked our tour last minute and they were able to accomodate us. They have strong village roots and helped us to understand the village culture and lifestyle. We enjoyed Black buck spotting, weaving, pottery and block printing. It's an enriching experience, my 9 year old son enjoyed it. It's a unique experience and one should really take time and visit the village.
It was a very insightful experience to visit different families working with their crafts. My guide Om was very kind, helped me spot the animals on safari, we even saw Blackbuck. He was able to answer all the questions I had about the culture. The home made meal was was delicious.
