Haga is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Gothenburg. The pedestrian street Haga Nygata is lined with well-preserved houses, many in the characteristic Gothenburg style called "landshövdingehus" with one floor in brick and the rest in wood. Today they house plenty of independent shops and cafés.

Second Long Street) is a street in Gothenburg, Sweden. It starts west of Haga at Järntorget and ends at Masthuggstorget. The street is renowned for its many restaurants, bars, galleries and record shops. Although the street has a dodgy past its reputation has now been redeemed. It is now a "magnet for creative types" according to Lonely planet. The tourists have yet to find this street but alternative Gothenburgians love the street for its "authenticity". It doesn't house any major commercial corporations such as Mcdonald's or H&M but more smaller venues.

Fun Biking Tour of Gothenburg

My husband and I took the Bike Tour with Nils, www.bikegothenburg.com, Thursday, Jun 25, 2026. Nils created a fun two-hour ride as an introduction to this fabulous city, and he is a delightful host and guide. We highly recommend the bike tour if you are a visitor. Local residents would enjoy this ride too, especially if they are welcoming guests to their city. Nils’ route takes you through the neighborhoods, to historical sights, and to point out numerous museum and entertainment options in Gothenburg. We travel throughout Europe and the USA doing our best to support local entrepreneurs. Nils offers a top-notch experience and he is a local business person. Top!

A great way to see Gothenburg

Nils is an amazing guide, and with his distinctive bicycle he earns the title of "most famous anonymous person in Gothenburg". Everybody waves and smiles when they see him leading his tours. On this tour you will learn about Gothenburg history and how it is today, all delivered from a native resident who knows the facts and colorful history. The bike route is easy effort. E-bike option is available but for most people it's not necessary. Nils leads you through a two-hour ride with stops for stories, covering 12km of travel. He keeps the group safe and together, and answers every question. Fun!

Best bike tour in Gothenburg!

We booked the city tour and then rented bikes for two more days. The tour was very good. The guide Nils is from Gothenburg and knows the city and its history very well. The rental of the bikes went very well. We also received bike bags, helmets, and locks. The bikes were in very good condition. He even offered the service of picking up the bikes with his truck in Alingsås, which is about 60 km from Gothenburg. I can highly recommend both the tour and the bike rental!

Operator response

This was a superb bike tour, led by Nils who was a fantastic guide, funny, informative and professional. The cycling was easy and covered lots of interesting parts of the city that we can then revisit at our leisure. Highly recommend to anyone to do this.

Fun bike ride through the city

We rode thru all the historic and shopping areas in Gothenburg. Wish the tour had been slightly longer to allow us to shop a little in the Haga district - lots of super cool little stores and restaurants. Be aware that Gothenburg is a bit hilly and you’ll have to exert yourself a bit!
