Description

Join a guided cemetery walking tour led by a New Orleanian whose ancestors are buried in these very grounds, offering a perspective few others can share. You will be surprised by what you learn as you walk among above ground family tombs, coping tombs, society tombs, and the original wall vaults that define our unique burial landscape. Along the way, your guide explains local customs such as the careful rotation of remains within family tombs and how multiple generations are respectfully interred in spaces built for only a few, all while sharing personal stories and correcting long-standing myths. This evocative, deeply informative experience connects history, memory, and community. You will not find a more personal or meaningful cemetery tour than with DuPont and Company Tours. We keep the light on for our ancestors by telling their stories.

Educational

The tour was very educational. The tour guide was a little late but she did text to let me know she would be. She did answer all of our questions about the tour.

Operator response

I’m very glad to hear that she answered all your questions and I am sorry she was late. That’s highly unusual in our company. Is that the reason for the 4 stars versus 5?

Great tour but not on a...

Great tour but not on a hot, humid day. Interesting information regarding the various options the deceased have today. Felt sorry for those who no longer had descendants to maintain their burial sites

Operator response

Thank you for your review of our cemetery tour. If I may ask, did you rate it 4 stars rather than 5 because of the heat? I wish we could control that but we have those conditions most of the year. We don’t like the heat and humidity either. That is why we stress in our confirmation and in the bookings about using an umbrella not just for rain, making sure our guests bring water o drink and maybe even handheld fans. It can be brutal in our subtropical conditions here.

Amazing tour

DeAnna was incredible. She knows every inch of New Orleans. We did a private combo cemetery/Garden District/French Quarter tour. She is very engaging and informative. I could listen to her speak all day. Would highly recommend.
