Amazing experience! The team were really friendly and very organised. The sunrise was beautiful and we were practically the only ones there. Worth the early start!
Seriously difficult walk for anyone over 50 or not very fit. This is advertised as “ steep in places”. No. It is seriously arduous, step tread is deep, inclines and declines are seriously steep and often no side walls so there is much potential for injury unless you are under 30 and fit and not afraid of heights. Be warned. This trip should have been better advertised as challenging. I took the cable car up to shorten the total distance and still was almost not able to complete the walk without help from a very supportive group of walking mates.
I'm so sorry about your experience. Actually the level of this hiking is between moderate and streuous. And we've got a lot of people over 60 or even 70 years old who did a good job in this trip, that's why I take it for granted. I'm sorry. But if we mark this as challenging, it will be confusing for other tours those are really challenging. Thank you for your advice and we'll try our best to describe it better in more details. Hope you're doing better! Wish you a happy life!
It's an intense hike, lots of steep slopes and steps, not for the faint of heart, but it was amazing and beautiful!! This bit of the wall is less full of people. The trip there and back was a well organised, smooth, pleasant car ride, the driver was very nice. Super recommend! Thanks Jacky.
I loved this section of the wall! The hike is not easy, but its so worth it. The drive out is also beautiful and a great way to see places outside the city of Beijing. The tour was prompt and did a great job with our time. Absolutely do this day tour if you have the time!
This was exactly what I was looking for. I definitely recommend the Jinshanling section of the great wall. It was beautiful and there not many people. You can take lots of photos without anyone in the background. This wall section goes through lots of peaks and valleys so it has some amazing views throughout the hike. It may take a little more time to get to this section, but I thought it was well worth it. The tour operator dropped us off at the west gate and we hiked 3-4 miles to the east gate. The first half of the walk was on a restored section of the wall and the second on an unrestored section. It was great to see both parts. Parts of the wall are very steep so you need to at least be in decent shape or you will struggle. My hotel was not in the pickup zone for the tour so I had to take the metro a few stops. But they communicated well and it was not an issue.
Thank you so much for your so detailed review, which really helps the other guests. We really appreciate it. Thanks again! We'll try our best to make it better!
It’s been a very nice tour. We went on a public holiday in China and we got a specific advice on which route should we take in order to find less people and they were right. Thank you very much.
Thank you so much for your sincere review. Yes on special national holidays we really suggest an early start. Thanks again!
I did the Jīnshānlǐng tour and the views were amazing although it was very hot (i went in August). The guide, Iris, was very kind and helpful. Very recommended.
