Itinerary
A rare gem hidden in the historic Hutong neighborhood. Here the narrow alleys wind alongside a small meandering river where ducks swim and the water sparkles under the Beijing sun. This peaceful waterside setting offers a quiet contrast to the busy city and shows a softer side of old Beijing. Step inside a traditional courtyard house and hear how Beijing families lived for centuries. Learn how several generations shared one home, how daily life was organized around the courtyard, and how the layout reflects traditional Chinese values of family, harmony, and hierarchy.
This historic street is home to many time-honored Beijing restaurants and classic local snack shops. We will try a local favorite dessert shop and stop by a traditional Peking duck restaurant to see how the duck is carefully prepared and roasted in a traditional oven (subject to store opening; viewing only, Peking duck not included).
A lively commercial street lined with historic shops and traditional eateries that have served locals for generations. We will step into one of these century-old stores and discover how it has preserved its craftsmanship and reputation while remaining popular with both locals and visitors.
Stroll along this artsy Hutong where trendy boutiques, small cafés, and creative souvenir shops blend beautifully with historic architecture. The street has become a vibrant cultural spot where Beijing's traditional charm meets modern artistic energy.
A quiet section of Hutongs away from the crowds and busy tourist areas. Slow down, listen, and observe the surroundings, where traces of old Beijing still remain and everyday life unfolds much as it has for decades.

Highly recommend this Hutong tour if you’re visiting Beijing. We got lucky and ended up with just 2 people in the group, so it felt almost like a private tour! Rainbow took us to a really quiet Hutong area with almost no other tourists around. Loved hearing about her childhood growing up in Beijing and what life in the Hutongs was like. Super interesting and learned a lot. Definitely recommend Rainbow if you’re thinking about doing a Hutong tour!
