Overall Poor Execution

We participated in the youth group overnight tour. Our guide Jake was knowledgeable, and a pleasure to be pared with. The overnight experience definitely was an eye opening experience as to what our brave sailors have to endure. My displeasure stems from three areas. The experience materials all state that the youth will receive a personal dog tag and yet none was provided. If it is no longer offered it should be removed from the digital materials. It is unpleasant to explain to a seven year old they are not getting something they were expecting. Second, no where did I see in any of the materials that in addition to the $230 per person ($690 total) that I would have to pay an additional $23 for parking. Lastly, and the hardest and most confusing is how a museum that depends on direct donations, and donations from tour and gift shop sales would completely abandon the gift shop. We had at least fifty people who wanted to make purchases at the gift shop yet no one ever showed up to open it. We waited around for an hour without anyone showing. Not only did they lose out on guaranteed sales and revenue they crushed the hearts of many children who were eagerly looking forward to a souvenir. They say the souvenirs are available online, but first many of the gifts are not available online and second why would I go through the hassle of making an online purchase after you crushed my child’s heart!
