Baru and Playa Blanca Full Day

I’ve been going to the same place for the last 3 years, but this tour is very good. Transporation is great and the the beach is amazing and it comes with food for such an amazing price can’t really beat it. This time we had Miguel as our tour guide and he was very informative and spoke excellent English!

The morning of and transportation was a bit confusing as the website and the WhatsUp app said two different things as far as the meet location and or pick up from hotel. When we made the reservation it never asked to be picked up from hotel. We confirmed it morning of and canceled the uber as it was no longer needed. Bus picked us up on time and we were on our way with another group. Milton was our tour guide and he spoke English very well and answered all of our questions while on the bus. He was amazing and very nice guy. Once at the beach, it was amazing and so worth it to get a day bed. The food and drinks were yummy. The day was perfect. Thank you Milton for an amazing day and being there to answer our questions every step of the way.

Pick up arrived 1h late either a taxi (so could have been taken a regular taxi at 2 instead of boiling under sun till 3) Taxi driver was a CRIMINAL : talking on the phone, risked 3 times to crash a motorbike, regularly passing with double line) it was the most scary experience of my life. We were supposed to have an “English and Spanish guide” the guy only talked Spanish and did not explain anything….too busy chitchatting with driver. So what is a guide? We arrived to Mambo a “beach club” where the towels were totally dirty (they said fat from the sea !!!) the toilet had NO WATER and NO FLUSH. We could not wash oour hands after going into a disgusting toilet. Not the basic health and higiene rules! Really disgusting. We were told that boat will have dry box for our belongings…..there was none, so we risked to wet our electronics. The boat as so old and in bad condition that was scary. It did not have even the stair to board back. So the few people who jumped in the lagoon were scaring unbalancing the boat. Of course, we did not see ANY luminous plancton. Zero, nada. Just a fraud! Not to forget the last part “the air conditioned bus was probably from WWII, no safety belts and totally dirty. It is outrageous to fraud tourist this way. And the worst is to think this tour was “recommended “ by our 5* hotel. Unacceptable. So do NOT do this tour, it’s a waste of time and money so badly organized and done.

The beach is beautiful and deserves to be known. I went over land buying from an agency. The bus was pretty precarious and the route of 2 hours to go is 2 hours to return is tired. It only compensated for the reduced cost. I took a boat ride to the oceanarium. Two points: 1) don't sit/pay for sunbathing before, because you don't always have lunch at the same place on the return; 2) the inclusive boat ride leaves you at the door of the oceanarium (it is bought to enter). When you arrive at the oceanarium you do not notice well, but at the door there is a place to stay reasonably (like a sea pool), without paying for it. By mistake of understanding, I stayed on the boat with personnel who would dive about 500 meters from the oceanarium, such a choice imposes the additional payment of this dive (do it or not). I did and liked the dive, but I had to argue not to charge my elderly father who did not dive.

The experience was an absolute nightmare. A nearly two hour bus ride packed with people in an old dilapidated bus. That's four hours round trip. Once on the bus, it costs another $18 to rent an umbrella for the 5 hours you're at the beach. The included lunch was ok at best. The beach was rocky and for the most part, not safe to swim. A small boat with about 40 snorkelers, jam packed, and NOT A SINGLE LIFE JACKET, A MAJOR SAFETY VIOLATION. The worst part is the bus to return left without us! We were never informed as to which bus to board, so we waited for the guide who pointed us in the direction of the parking lot with 10 or so busses. We were about 200 feet away from the bus when I saw the guide for the bus get on and the bus took off. She did not take a head count to ensure everyone was on the bus. I ran and caught up with the bus and knocked on the door. The driver opened it and let us in. We had to sit in the very back seat, cramped in like sardines. Overall, this was a horrible experience!
