We invite you to discover a town that has maintained its marked identity for more than 400 years: the little corner of Africa in Colombia. Here is the time it will take to get from one place to another You will learn the history of the first free people of America. You will connect with ancestors and the African roots of Palenque de Benkos Biohó (Founder of Palenque). Enjoy the dance show, learn their traditional dance steps, and play the drums. Learn the Bantu language from Guinea and Congo accompanied by a native guide. We will make a stop in the town square, the house of Kombilesa mi; the folkloric rap group, the museum house, the Palenque Viejo, and traditional medicine. At the end, we will have lunch a delicious typical Palenquero dish.

Pickup Locations & Times
The pick up of guests staying in the walled city is at 8:00 am in the clock tower, those staying in the neighborhoods Bocagrande, Castillo Grande and laguito the pickup is between 8:20 am and 8:45 am, customers staying in the neighborhoods Marbella, Cabrero, Crespo and Cielo Mar or any hotel in the north and sea apple the pickup from 8:50 am to 9:30 am. Customers staying in Manga must arrive at 8 am at the clock tower. Customers of hotels located in Manzanillo del Mar will be picked up at 8:30 am in a car that will take them out of the village and bring them to Cartagena to meet them with the guide. We do not pick up at hotels located in Barú or outside the city of Cartagena.

Tour de Palenque is a must do. Our tour guide Romeo and co were excellent, very knowledgeable, affable, humorous and made this a great experience overall. We were able to immerse ourselves in the Palenque culture, learning Palenque words and phrases, the history of the people, their values, practices and ideologies and watching and learning their traditional dances. If you are visiting Cartagena, do not miss the opportunity to book to this tour!
This tour is a must when visiting Cartegena! Romeo & staff were amazing! Very knowledgeable, dancing was entertaining and the food was delicious! The pic is of my hubby's vegetarian meal.

11/10 EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE ALL AROUND— included in the tour was transportation, food, translators, local language lesson, historical context, cultural display of dance and drumming, traditional medicine education, and opportunities to shop. ROMEO our tour guide was AMAZING— professional, knowledgeable, reliable, a good sense of humor and very chill, and in all fairness, ALL of the guides associated with the tour were equally respectful and helpful. It’s rare to find experiences that really check ALL the boxes of what a person could be looking for, but this one went beyond that. I HIGHLY recommend this tour to ANYONE visiting Colombia, I look forward to doing it again. Also if you’re looking for a husband, there’s a good chance you’ll find a man amongst men in Palenque.

Amazing. It was very informative and interactive. It was just very hot so be mindful of that. Wear comfortable shoes, a hat and bring a portable fan and water.
