Baroque Christmas Concert at Capuchin Crypt with Museum

Description
To celebrate in an unusual and unique way, join us in the Capuchins Convent Hall for a special Christmas Baroque Concert, performed "a cappella" by the prestigious Schola Romana Ensemble. This event truly embodies the spirituality of Christmastime, through the power of sacred music, and features a tour of the Capuchin Museum and Crypt that will guide you through the history and devotion of the Franciscans. The musical program features music of the Sistine Chapel by Palestrina, Arcadelt, Morales; Gregorian chants performed live by Schola Romana Ensemble, our resident historically informed music group. After the concert, you will be escorted to the Capuchin Museum and Crypt to tour independently with the aid of an audioguide, available in 13 languages. You will have a chance to admire "Saint Francis in Meditation", an absolute masterpiece by Caravaggio, and to be raptured by the 4000 bones of Capuchin friars that make up the stunning decorations of the Crypt.

I really enjoyed the concert, the artists were talented, the musical program was top, the explanations of the music was very well done. However, I do not recommend the visit to the crypt for younger people or those who have never seen skeletons, in conjunction with death.
Dear Andreea, Thank you so much! It was lovely to have you with us, and I am glad to know you enjoyed our sacred music concert ❤️ I'd also like to thank you for your disclaimer. Over the years, we've had the pleasure to welcome a lot of kids to our event and often they were the most excited coming out of the tour, but it is absolutely necessary they come in prepared for what they're about to see. The Capuchin Crypt can be shocking, and it is not for everyone. This doesn't mean that those who don't feel like entering the Crypts aren't invited to enjoy our choral concert and the visit to the Capuchin Museum! Again, thank you so much. We really hope we'll get to see you again next time you're in Rome 🥰 Un abbraccio, Paola and the Roma Opera Omnia Team
Experiencing beautiful compositions sung by such talented performers was fabulous! I thoroughly enjoyed it. The following tour of the crypt was like nothing else you will ever see. But don’t skip the dinner at Piccolo Vicolo afterwards. Best meal I had while in Rome!!
Dear Eilleen, Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! I'm delighted you enjoyed the music and the unique experience of the crypt tour—it truly is one of a kind. And I'm thrilled to hear you loved the dinner at Piccolo Vicolo! It's such a gem in Rome. I hope to see you again for more unforgettable moments! Look forward to enjoy your company again soon! Un abbraccio grande Paola
It was OK. The information on the meeting point was incomplete and unclear, so we had to keep walking around and asking where to go. If you're into Capuchin monks, this is the museum for you.
Dear Sandra , I'm Paola from Roma Opera Omnia I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed your evening with us! Thank you for letting us know that the address on Viator was not correct We informed them. However I'm sad to see that in your rating you blamed us for the address issue which is not our responsibility as Viator handles the information they provide to customers and you purchased on Viator and not from our site. Best regards Paola
Great experience however, the meeting point address from Viator was incorrect. It was a half mile away from the actual meeting point in front of the museum.

A beautiful, soothing performance to remind you that this is what Christmas is all about. Only four voices and you feel as though you are hearing a heavenly choir. Go, feel blessed, then do good works.
I’ve been to the Capuchin Crypt before, but decided to do this for the Christmas concert which was well worth it, but I wish the concert were a little longer and that they also sang some modern songs as well as those from the Baroque period. Also, the option to add dinner was nice and the food was fantastic. However, even though the meal was pre-paid, the wine wasn’t included and the wine presented to us averaged 900 Euros per bottle, which is more than a bit pricey for most.
This was a fantastic evening and the singers were absolutely amazing. The tour guides did a fantastic job and I would definitely recommend this trip to others.
Thank you!
This tour began with a tour of the Capuchin Crypt with our very informative guide - super, but it was quite speedy and I'd have liked longer to linger both in the museum and the crypt itself (so you may want to do this again separately if it interests you) and then up to the church above for a fabulous concert. The singers sang a programme of baroque music suited for Christmas and really wowed us... to be in the ancient church, with those beautiful voices soaring was just unforgettable...
Thank you!
