I booked the cooking experience to learn how to make a good paella since I learned cooking seafood paella online. Our chef is Andres. First, we went to the Mercat and bought fresh large prawns, mussels, squid and cuttlefish (provided by the tour). Andres is very knoledgeable and very entertaning from the beginning. Told us some histories and facts about catalan, barcelona and of course the art of cooking paella. After the market, we went/walk to the cooking place. They provided us red sangria, cheese and different ham and chorizos which are delicious. Andres then now explain the steps of cooking. He gave us different tasks like one is cutting the bell peppers, cleaning the musvles and cutting the legs of the prawns. Then he proceed to cooking. I was impressed how he cooked the paella. When it was finished, we ate the paella. I was surprised that it was so delicious. It’s our 3rd time having paella in town since we visited and his paella is so far the best! Amazing and I highly recommended for first timers in Barcelona. We loved it 😍
The guide was informative and Santiago the chef was very patient and skilled.
He was knowledgeable and informed. He was engaging and witty! It was great way to see the city and learn about Barcoelona
It was awesome, the chef was great and so informative about the secret to good paella! We drank a lot of sangria!
It was truly a wonderful experience. Maja and Andre provided us with a great and interesting afternoon. We were able to learn quite a bit for our own kitchen and found both of them very likable.
Great experience. Chef was very professional and funny. Good bunch of people and very personal touch
Immersive experience, but below expectations. The market visit was very nice, a brief stay, everyone on their own, and once we regrouped, we went to the cooking school. Well done, Maia, who explained the technique and procedure for making paella. We engaged in preparing the ingredients, and the chef completed the cooking. Unfortunately for the rest, the program for which we paid was not respected: we did not prepare the pintxos (a variety of classic Spanish finger foods) nor the sangria (served in a pitcher at the table without any trace of fruit, leading to the doubt that it was pre-packaged). Experience completed in just under 2 hours.
Had a great experience. The guide Milo was very knowledgeable and a fantastic cook and guide. Everything was easy to understand, and the walk around the Gothic quarter and market was very interesting. We loved learning about the history and Barcelonas oldest traditions and prides. Has some great food with amazing people. Couldn't recommend enough!!!!
I came to Barcelona with my mom on a mother-daughter trip. I really wanted to take a paella making class and came across this one. I particularly liked that part of the experience is going to the Mercat de la Boqueria! We get to walk around and experience that while Milo (one of our chefs) buys the seafood for the paella. Then he walks us through some neighborhoods on our way to where the class will be held. Manny (our class’ main chef) greeted us and was sooo kind and informative. This class is super interactive and fun! Manny goes over what ingredients and how much to add and step by step we participate in chopping vegetables, stirring the seafood and cutting the seafood. Overall this was a super fun experience that my mom and I both really enjoyed. We got to meet new people also taking the class and chit chat while we enjoyed the paella we made. 10/10 recommend for anyone coming to Barcelona!
Met up at a bar, then off to the market. Our time there was shortened due to a protest. Walked to our cooking venue and had an excellent demonstration/participation on making paella.
