Itinerary
Approximately 850 feet above sea-level, this spot offers an excellent view of the "Scotland District" which covers the parish of St.Andrew and is named after the Patron Saint of Scotland. It is believed that the name "Cherry Tree Hill" originated from the large number of cherry trees which once existed at this location. Today the road is lined with mahogany trees, which were introduced into Barbados after the Treaty of Paris in 1763. As you descend the hill the mahogany trees give way to swaying sugar cane.
Morgan Lewis Windmill is located in the scenic hills of St. Andrew in Barbados and commands a most commanding view of the phenomenal east coast. Built in 1727, this typical wind-driven mill once crushed sugarcane to produce juice during the 18th and 19th centuries. Morgan Lewis Windmill stopped its operation in 1947 and was subsequently handed over to the Barbados National Trust for preservation as a museum. Morgan Lewis Windmill is among the World Monuments Fund list of 100 Most Endangered Sites in the World.
Legend has it that Bathsheba, wife of King David, bathed in milk to keep her skin beautiful and soft. Legend also says that the surf covered white waters of Bathsheba, Barbados rich in minerals and life is said to resemble Bathsheba's bath in both appearance health giving value.
Built in 1846 to replace the church that was destroyed by the Great Hurricane of 1831, this classic Gothic church is solid and soaring. The church grounds are serene and the cliff-edge site commands a sweeping view of the picturesque east coast. A noteworthy statue and funerary plaques add to the interest, and a small guidebook gives you details. In the churchyard rests Ferdinando Paleologus, a descendant of Emperor Constantine the Great, whose family was driven from the throne in Constantinople by the Turks. Ferdinando died here in 1678, after being a resident for over 20 years. Though always English, Barbados has attracted multinationals for quite some time.
Gun Hill is the finest of a series of signal stations built in 1818. These stations sighted ships approaching Barbados and signaled to each other, advising of the type of vessel and whether if was a friend or foe! In case of attack, the forts and soldiers could be quickly readied to defend the island. In the signal tower a chart shows just what detailed information could be relayed with the use of a few flags. The signal stations were also used to warn of slave rebellions on the island.
The location is the Historic Garrison Savannah, close to the capital, Bridgetown. The Garrison Savannah has been the home of horse racing in Barbados since 1845. The officers of the British Regiment, who were stationed in Barbados, used what was then the parade ground to match their horses in races and the wealthy merchants and planters later joined them.
Carlisle Bay is a nice tranquil beach located just on the outskirts of Bridgetown, where the focal point is the bobbing boats moored in the bay. It is a vast area of mostly placid and clear waters with no undertow, and is excellent for photos, snorkeling and Scuba diving, while boasting the most visited dive sites in Barbados. We will visit Carlisle bay where you will be greeted with a welcome drink and use of a beach lounger and shared umbrella is included whilst you enjoy some time at the beach

For the most part, the excursion is mostly as described. Here is how our tour went: * Very quick photo stop at the home Rihanna grew up in. * Cherry Tree Hill: Longer than necessary stop here, mostly people selling souvenirs, but there is a somewhat nice view. * Extremely fast photo stop at Morgan Lewis Windmill. * Fairly long stop at Bathsheba -- very nice views of the ocean and 'mushroom rocks'. A welcome bathroom stop. * Nice stop at St Johns Church -- the highlight is the old cemetery behind the church. * Gun Hill -- we saw it in the distance and our guide briefly discussed it. No stop. * Garrison Historic area: The description says "Visit The Garrison Savannah a UNESCO World Heritage site and see a few of the cannons on display" -- but there is NO STOP. We did not see it at all. * Carlisle Bay: The final stop is some beach time at 'Savvy on the Bay' at Carlisle Bay. We were provided with free beach loungers and an umbrella, as advertised. The beach and the water were very nice! Thankfully we were given a free drink as drinks were otherwise very expensive. Bottle of water US $5, Coors Light beer or Rum Punch US $10, Pina Colada, Margarita, etc., US $20. The lines were long for food in the 'food court' and some people said they had waited over 45 minutes and still did not receive any food -- we were glad we brought our own snacks. We were brought back to our cruise ship port at the correct time. Would I recommend it? Yes... it is a good value for what you get, considering the island tour, beach chairs, umbrella and free drink.
Susan our guide and driver was great. Met us at the cruise port ahead of time and van was comfortable and loved fact that was small group so very private experience. Started with drive through Bridgetown and some insights on history and historical and current points of interest including house where Rihanna was born. Then went through many of the different “parishes”, which are the electoral territories of the island, each unique. Really got great perspective of island, seeing one of original sugar plantations and railroads with beautiful view of island from up night, very exclusive neighbourhoods and towns as well as rural, famous surfer beach where stopped for drink and snack, one of oldest churches, and ended our tour with stop at beautiful beach not too far from the cruise port where able to enjoy the warm, beautiful waters, enjoy a complimentary beer and our chairs and umbrella included. Susan was also great in sharing her own personal story and perspective as a resident. She was gracious and very patient as on a couple of occasions had to wait for other guests who were late to meeting point or rendezvous. One couple wanted to skip the beach and she was gracious to take them back to ship early. While another couple skipped out on paying for the beach stop which despicable as it comes out of guides pocket. All in all loved the combination of culture, history and beach. Thanks Susan!
Excellent tour around the island by Ben followed by a trip to the lovely Carlisle bay, great day out
Combination of too little seats and two many people, knees hit seat in front of you if taller than 5’6. More mountain views seeing the same view different angle. Sugar mill under construction, no assist on/ off. Driver never left seat, talked on phone. Take Taxi and go to beach
Pay close attention to time zone Carnival cruise does not change to island time & they don’t reimburse if you miss the tour because of this!
What we do not reimburse for is when customers tell lies and try to make our company look bad rather than just state the truth that their ship was later and then of course we give a refund. Instead this person lied and said no one showed up for them. We pointed this out to them and they still refused to handle the situation in a mature and honest way. Had they been honest they would have been refunded.
Driver was very rude. After we were standing in line for 25 minutes and 15 minutes past the start time, the driver aggressively confronted me and demanded to know why I was shaking my head. I was taken aback and told him I did not have to answer his question and it was none of his business. When the tour began, he said "In Barbados we have a laid back culture, unlike the guy in the grey shirt", which I had on. During the excursion, he was very rude to my wife, which I believe was an indirect attack on me. I would not recommend this tour or company to anyone.
I am sorry but I believe you have placed your review under the wrong company. You dont stand in line to board any tour with a drivers not any of them so your review could not be for our company.
We loved our tour of Barbados, our guide Ryan was fantastic. Very organized and seamless excursion day from the Cruise port terminal, Thorough tour with just two other couples, and time on a beautiful beach to cap off our day. Highly recommend!
Corey was a great and fun host and showed us around the island and told us a lot about it.

Especially if you're a first time visitor to Barbados, I think this was a wonderful overview of some of the more rural parts of the island with several stops for both photo ops and visiting historic places. Our guide Corey was both knowledgable and very patient. We ended the tour with time on Carlisle Beach, which while crowded, was a beautiful, pristine white sand beach with turquoise water, plenty of beach chairs with umbrellas, food and beverage concessions and water sports available. A little extra beach time would have been ideal, but we enjoyed this excursions tremendously.
Was worried about booking a direct tour rather than through cruise line, but all was fine. The driver wasn't the best tour guide but the tour was enjoyable and the island is beautiful. I would be more than happy to book this company again when next visiting.
