Bannockburn Battlefield Tour

Description
My dog Molly and I were amazed at the number of tourists who arrived at the Battlefield, spent less than 10 minutes at the site of Scotland's greatest battle, then departed Bannockburn. Molly taught me to welcome visitors, give a warm hug, and say thank you for taking the time to remember our great heroes such as Robert the Bruce and James Douglas, and all those who fought, died, and survived at Bannockburn. Our outdoor tour on the Battlefield, covers the Wars of Independence, the Battle, and the aftermath up to the current day. We shall entertain you with stories of the main characters and the small folk who influenced the battle. We also do a Stirling Bridge tour, the scene of William Wallace’s greatest victory. Freedom Tour Today is the perfect way to welcome visitors and learn more about why so many people hold Scotland and our history, dear to their hearts. Sadly Molly passed away on the 15th of February 2024 with her Mum & Dad by her side. We miss her so much <3

Fascinating tour of the Bannockburn battlefield. Great tour by a well informed local guide and his trustee lab Ayla. Would recommend to anyone going to the Bannockburn centre to definitely book this. Would definitely go again.
Hello Trez/Millie, Thank you for your kind words. And for welcoming Ayla on her first tour. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay and are home safe in the States :) Kind regards, Steven and Ayla
a moving story, led by a passionate and engaging guide. We were deeply affected by this story throughout our stay and talked about it a lot.
Merci pour vos gentils mots. Ce fut un plaisir de vous accueillir à Bannockburn. J'espère que vous avez apprécié votre séjour à Stirling et en Écosse. Steven #auldalliance
I met my tour guide Steve at the Visitors Center for Bannockburn Battlefield. Steve and I started walking the battlefield site and I immediately realized that Steve is one of the most knowledgeable, interesting and passionate guides I have had, and I've been on many tours. We walked around and I learned so much not only about the battle, but also about the history of Scotland. I highly recommend this tour as it unveils the battle from start to end and everything around it. Steve is engaging and ignites your imagination.
Happy New Year Linda, Thank you for reviewing Bannockburn after your kind review of Stirling Bridge. If you are back in cental Scotland and want another tour, we can visit some extra locations linked to the Wars of Independence. All the best for 2026 on your travels. Kind Regards, Steven
Steven is a great guide who really knows his history and is passionate about it! I did Stirling Bridge and Bannockburn with him and he was great company throughout the day! Would highly recommend!
Good Morning Edward, Thank you for taking the time to join us on tour and to leave a review. It was great to welcome you to Stirling Bridge and Bannockburn. I'm glad after two goal less draws, you were spoilt with barrowload of goals in the third match of your tour of Scottish Football. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year. Kind Regards, Steven
Stephen was an exceptional tour guide - he took the time out to explain the lead up to the battle and how events unfolded from that point on. Nothing was too much in terms of the time that Stephen spent with us and the questions we asked - we would suggest that his knowledge was second to know and would highly recommend him.
Hi Johnny and Tanya, Thank you for your kind review. I wouldn't go as far as second to none, but we try and give a full account of the key points of the Battle and introduce Superheroes such as Isabella MacDuff, the Countess of Buchan and the Good Sir James Douglas of course and his influence after Bannockburn. Thank you for visiting Scotland and haste ye back. Kind Regards, Steven
A few days ago I took the Bannockburn Battlefield tour by Freedom Tours Today. Steven was my guide. He was great actually better than great. Steven is very passionate about the tours and ensuring that his clients get the full experience of the battle. He explains in detail the history and what the motivation was on both sides, what the leaders were thinking and planning, what strategies they used and what worked and what didn’t. Also tied it up with how the English commander at Stirling Castle was involved. Steven made this a fabulous experience and I highly recommend that tourists should go there after they visit Stirling Castle to really appreciate the history.
Hi Linda, Thank you for your kind words. We love welcoming visitors to Bannockburn and Stirling and it was a pleasure to meet you and delve into the events of 23rd and 24th June 1314 and the build up and aftermath of the Battle of Bannockburn. And thank you for donating to our Dogs Trust fundraiser in memory of Molly ♡ Hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Scotland and safe passage onwards. Kind regards, Steven
Fantastic tours today with Steven. He has so much knowledge on these battles and the history of this area. You can’t beat his passion for sharing what he knows, great time! Thanks Steven
Hello Niki & Ed, it was an absolute pleasure to welcome you to Stirling Bridge and Bannockburn. Thank you for your kind words. It's all about the welcome, the warm hug and the thank you. Throw in some History and enjoy the time well spent. Safe passage homewarrds ♡ Cheers Steven & Oatly
Had a wonderful time. Learnt so much in a friendly setting. Loved the 3d show and visual effects. After we had the opportunity to explore the battlefield itself.
Hi Clare, thank you for your kind review ♡ To be honest though, I think you took part in the indoor Bannockburn Experience tour rather than my outdoor tour. Glad you enjoyed Bannockburn abd tgank you for visiting. Kind Regards Steven
It was the best experience we ever had from start to finish the guide STEPHEN new everything you need to know about the Scottish history in Stirling Fabulous cheer's for a wonderful day 😀
Apologies for the late reply. I thought I had so. Thank you for your kind words and your interesting questions. Were the Templars at Bannockburn is always a good one. I shy away from mentioning it on most tours as my friend Duncan at the King of Scot's Heritage Centre in Renton tells the story so much better than I can. Hope you and Bernadette had a wonderfull time in Scotland and thanks again for tweaking the times to help us out ♡ Steven and Oatly
We were a group of six friends who had previously done the Braveheart tour which encouraged us to go back and do the Bannockburn tout. We had had such a good experience on the first tour to Stirling Bridge that we looked forward to this second tour. Not the least of the reasons for doing this tour was that our guide on both the tours, Steven, was infectiously enthusiastic about the battle, but was also extremely informative. A couple of us were well up on the history, but most of us knew just a few basic facts. Steven told us all a lot of things new to us and so we all ended very well informed of this turning point in Scottish history, and it made a big difference that we could see ground on which the battle took place and were able to understand the importance of the terrain to the outcome of the events. The meeting point was the Bannockburn Centre which has a free car park and also a nice café serving very nice home-made food. There is not a lot of walking and the tour should be accessible to almost all levels of mobility. This tour was well worth going on.
Hi Alan, Thank you for your kind words. It was great to welcome you to both Battlefields. The group were great and made both days really enjoyable. Five and a half years in and your review makes it all worthwhile. Thank also for the donation to Mollys Fundraiser for the Dogs Trust. I wasn't sure how I would feel about doing tours after our Lab/Collie Superhero passed in February, but with the encouragement of reviews like yours, I know I need to continue what Molly started. Hopefully we can find a suitable date and go and visit Duncan of the Strathleven Artizans in Renton. Thank you and take care, Steven
