Another wonder of the city: here is Notre-Dame-des-Doms Cathedral.

Occupied since prehistory, the Rock of Doms, in addition to offering a magnificent view of the surroundings, was a privileged place to live sheltered from the whims of the Rhone which is just below, 30 meters below.

Pass by

Here you are in front of the iconic view of the city. The rooftops of the City of Popes and the surrounding villages are available to you, located a stone’s throw from the Rhone.

Pass by

Located at the tip of the Jardin des Doms, you have a breathtaking view of the Rhone and the island of Barthelasse, the largest river island in France.

Pass by

Here we are in front of the famous Pont d’Avignon, the Pont Saint-Bénézet of its real name. So, ready to dance in circles?

Pass by

After crossing the ramparts through the Line gate, you come across one of the oldest buildings in the city, the one on your left.

Pass by

This pretty baroque façade belongs to the Chapel of the Black Penitents, which hosted one of the major brotherhoods of the city of Popes

Pass by

Here you are in front of the Utopia Cinemas, a true cultural institution of the city.

Pass by

Here we are in Peyrolerie Street. Straight from Provence, the name of this street comes from the word “peyrou”, which means cauldron in Provence.

Pass by

Located a few steps from the Palace of the Popes, St. Peter's Basilica was first built in the 7th century, but it was demolished by the Saracens.

Pass by

Here you are, in one of the busiest places in the city.

Pass by

Pius Square, which hosts the city’s Covered Point of Sale, was built in the 16th century in place of an old house.

Here we will turn right, but know that the street in front of you is a very touristic place that you can go to discover if you wish.

Pass by

On your right stands a huge building that is hard not to notice.

Pass by

Place des Corps Saints is one of the most pleasant in the city.

Pass by

We are still on Rue Joseph Vernet, but here you have to turn to the left to see a much older aspect than mansions.

Operator response

Hello, I sincerely apologize for the frustration and technical difficulties you experienced in Avignon. Please be assured that our tour is indeed fully available in English. Currently, the app simply launches in French by default when a tour is first unlocked. To listen in English, you just need to go to the app's Settings (the gear icon) and select 'English' to load the correct audio files. We understand this default setting is not intuitive and we are working to make this process much clearer. Regarding the "Contact us" button in the app, you are completely right. We are currently experiencing a technical issue with this specific feature, and our team is actively working to resolve it. In the meantime, please note that travelers can always reach out to us directly through the Viator messaging system, where our team is available to reply and assist. Thank you for your feedback, which helps us improve. We are very sorry for the inconvenience. Best regards, Georges | Inway
