Shodo (Japanese calligraphy) is the art of writing beautiful characters on paper using a brush and ink. In addition to writing beautiful characters, it is also possible to express yourself through the image of the kanji. Master Shoran is an experienced Shodoka (Japanese Calligrapher) with experience teaching thousands of students from around the world. As a English-speaking Shodoka, Shoran will guide you through the process to write your name in Kanji with the Shodo brush. Take home a unique souvenir with your name written in Kanji on a Japanese scroll.

The calligraphy is bright, fun, pleasant and wonderful, taught by a wonderful English speaking teacher. You can enjoy a wonderful calligraphy that is truly soothing in this day and age when writing is becoming less common.

The Japanese calligraphy lesson with Master Shoran is truly a unique and immersive Japanese experience. I participated in the class with my two school-age children and we learned so much but also greatly appreciated the gracious hospitality that Master Shoran extended to us.
