The last residence of the Medici Family. The majestic Palazzo Pitti was built by the merchant Luca Pitti as an effective demonstration of his wealth and power to his rivals the Medici. In 1549, when the palace was bought by Eleanor of Toledo, wife of Cosimo I, its magnificence was increased and the beautiful Boboli Gardens were laid out behind it. It became the official seat of the Medici dynasty of grand dukes after Cosimo I moved here from Palazzo Vecchio. My 18 YO daughter and I attended this walking tour around Florence. Our guide, William, was knowledgeable, friendly and full of anecdotes. He took care to not lose anyone (there were eight of us on the tour) and his pacing worked well. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and highly recommend it!
This was a perfect way to start our second day in Florence. Our guide was amazing, gave us so much information and a lot of the secret gems of Florence. She was funny and helpful and truly kind! This was one of our highlights!
Lots of good back stories to the places we visited. Really felt that we had scratched below the surface of the beautiful buildings.
We recently did the Florence Walking Tour with Julia as our guide and had an amazing time. She was very knowledgeable about the city and had myriad interesting facts about the city and its landmarks as well as famous hostorical characters who have influenced Florence and its development. I learned so many cool facts and she had some great recommendations for food and locations beyond just the tour. I would definitely recommend this tour and Julia if you're visiting the city.
Our guide was exceptional, extremely knowledgable and very friendly. We learnt so much and had a great time with her.
This tour was a great way to start our time in Florence. Our tour guide, Raffaello, was raised in Florence and was an expert on Renaissance art and history. He was a wonderful teacher and we really enjoyed both his facts and his personal stories of growing up in Florence. Thank you to the tour company for finding this tour guide and accommodating our schedule and wishes after the original tour guide cancelled for a last minute emergency. We really enjoyed this tour and Raffaello!
This tour was exactly what we needed. A chance to get our bearings in Florence and hear some of the fascinating stories behind the art. Maria is a wonderful guide, incredibly knowledgeable and brings art to life. The pace was perfect. When asked, she also shared local tips on food, shopping and what not to miss while in Florence.
Great tour that covers so many of the highlights and places. The information was very good. Highly recommend.
Booked this last minute on a rainy day. It was just my husband, myself and our tour guide, Julia! She was fantastic and took us several extra places. She gave great food recommendations and local tips for wine!
Julia’s walking history and art tour in Florence was fantastic! She’s knowledgeable, engaging, and brings the city to life with warmth and passion. She even tailored the experience for my daughter and me, taking us inside the Duomo when the line was short and sharing fascinating insights. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to truly experience Florence!
