Itinerary
Leave Rome's city center in style, passing through the grand San Sebastiano gate in the 3rd century Aurelian Walls.
Start discovering the Ancient Appian Way, as it gradually transforms from a nearly anonymous Roman street into a uniquely preserved ancient thoroughfare, today set in the bucolic paradise that is the Appian Way Park.
In the 4-hour tour, a short pause to contemplate the massive burial underground, resting place to half a million souls. Please note: on Wednesdays, this stop is not included in the 4-hour tour. In the 6-hour tour, a 45-minute guided visit of these 2nd-century catacombs, in all their complexity and mystery! Note: On Wednesdays, the 6-hour tour will visit the Catacombs of San Sebastiano (instead of those of San Callixtus).
Admire the vestiges of an Imperial complex built in the 4th century A.D., consisting of a Villa, a Mausoleum and a Circus (a chariot racetrack venue).
One of the largest and best-preserved buildings on the Appian Way - this 1st century (A.D.) funerary monument was consecrated to the memory of a young girl from a patrician family.
A sprawling 2nd century private Villa complex that used to belong to two of the richest brothers in Roman Imperial history. THIS STOP IS ONLY INCLUDED IN THE 6-HOUR TOUR.
See the colossal aqueducts and hear all about the massive system of underground and arch-borne water supply built for the city of Rome in antiquity.
A wonderful 'pocket' of verdant valleys and hills in the suburbs of the Eternal city, the home of large sheep herds that graze on its pastures.
See the incredible Thermal baths of Caracalla from the best vantage point, and hear about the central importance that baths had for the social life of ancient Romans. THIS STOP IS ONLY INCLUDED IN THE 6-HOUR TOUR.

This was our family’s favorite day in Rome! We nearly cancelled because of the heat but are so glad we didn’t. It was hot but comfortable on the bikes. We learned so much about Roman history and explored so many beautiful areas we would never have known to explore on our own. This is definitely a must do day in Rome!
This was such a fun tour and our guide was extremely knowledgeable about Roman history and the sights that we saw in the city, the Appian Way, parks, and Aqueducts. We loved the mix of paved roads and unpaved trails which added some fun and adventure riding. The e-bikes were perfect for allowing everyone in the group to stay together.
An adventure not to be missed.
Hands down the best tour we did in Rome - 4 hour Ancient Appian Way and Aqueducts Park tour. It was a hot afternoon with a 4pm start, but the electric mountain bikes made it so easy and enjoyable. If you have never done Rome, skip the Colosseum tour - walk around it instead- and do this. So much fun. The history - the Roman's were so clever. Not sure how the human race managed to go backwards between then and now. An electric trike would be a great addition for those who cannot manage a regular bike due to mobility issues. Highly recommend.
I had a great day out with my daughter which we'll always remember. Rome has so much to offer, during the tour we visited the Catacombs of St Sebastian and along the Appian Way a few ancient monuments, the Aquaducts were especially special to see. The service was top level and professional the entire time from start to finish. Our guide was Agnese, who made us feel welcome and encouraged us the whole time. We are glad we choose this company and highly recommend them to anyone!
Our guide was brilliant. Always ensuring we were safe and comfortable. Easy ride with the - ebike, plenty to see and learn. Highly rate for those who want to get out of Rome for the day and experience something different. Be prepared to get dusty and sweaty!!
Thank you for your kind words! We're delighted you enjoyed the ride, the beautiful scenery, and your guide's care throughout the day, and we couldn't agree more; a little dust and sweat are all part of the adventure!
Had a fantastic top day. Very nice bike ride with alternation between cycling and sightseeing. Also a fantastic guide Carmen who captivated the boys (12 and 11 years). Simply amazing!!!
The e-bikes were easy to handle and in good condition, even for our most junior family member who is just 11yo. Our guide set a good pace, and navigated us safely through the Roman traffic until we reached the city walls. She stopped at appropriate intervals to share her knowledge and history with us. The best stop - according to our teenagers - was the excellent pizza place she took us to! It was certainly delicious. Despite a couple of bike mishaps (our fault), we finished the tour safe and happy.
Thank you for sharing your experience! We're so glad your whole family, including your youngest rider, enjoyed the tour, the stories, and of course the delicious pizza stop, and we're happy to hear everyone finished the ride safely with great memories.
I did this tour with my 10-year old grandson. We loved it. It was a highlight of our visit to Rome. Fabio was an outstanding cyclist guide. He is also very knowledgeable about Rome's history. The ride was lots of fun..even in the heat. Highly recommended.
Thank you for your wonderful review! We're delighted that your tour with your grandson was a highlight of your visit to Rome, and we'll be sure to pass your kind words on to Fabio. He'll be thrilled to know he made your experience so memorable!
Due to medical reasons I was not able to go on my original tour date but Zak at the desk was able to work through rescheduling - a strong start. I felt welcomed from the time I walked in the doors to the time I walked out 6 hrs later. The guide I rode with, Ikaro, was informative, energetic and easy to talk to. The e-bikes ride like mountain bikes with multiple control options to get your own perfect settings. Generally it felt like a spin class- minus the I-wanna-die part! And of course… the scenery. Breathtaking views that look like backdrops. It did not feel like 6 hours to me, nor at any point did I feel one ounce of displeasure. What I did feel, is a core memory created. Even with my healing shoulder that stopped me the first scheduled tour that I had to change, I was not in pain. Overall an experience that I will never forget- and I want to do again! 🥰
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We're so glad Zak was able to help with rescheduling and that Icaro made your ride both fun and memorable. It means the world to hear that this became a core memory for you, and we're especially happy you were able to enjoy the adventure comfortably while your shoulder continues to heal. We can't wait to welcome you back for another ride! 🥰
