Our guide Elise was generous and enthusiastic with her knowledge of Roman society and the site we toured. The food and wine tasting from the Roman period was really fun! Loved the combination of history/food/wine from 1000BC. Highly recommend. Thank you Jeff! Kathy M
Nice, different, informative experience. My wife and I booked this excursion to have fun and do something unique. Not only did we have great time, but we learned interesting historical information. Beforehand we told several people on our cruise ship what we had booked and six of them, (three couples) book it too for the same day and time. We all had a great time! The wine and food was excellent, and providing Roman Togas to wear made it fun. I highly recommend.
This was a fabulous tour and I’m not even a foodie. We dressed up, drank amazing wine (even had seconds) and the food pairing was so good. Who doesn’t love olives and cheese and ham and other amazing treats! Best tour we have had in a long time. Did I mention we also toured a Roman house to get us in the mood. Thanks ladies for an above and beyond tour! The wine is just fabulous!!!
Thank you very much for your comment; we truly appreciate you sharing your positive reviews. We look forward to seeing you back in Cartagena soon!
The meet place was ambiguous and staff was not wearing white Tshirts with blue lanyards. Perhaps in description you should add “if you have mobility issues this tour involves 15-20 minutes of walking slightly uphill, 20 stairs and some uneven ground”. The wine tasting was wonderful and worth the mobility issue, but would have liked to be prepared.
Thank you for enjoying the experience and for your comment. We would have loved for you to let us know so we could assist you, as mentioned in the tour description: "Wheelchair accessible for wine tasting, not for Casa de la Fortuna, it is close to the wine tasting so we will show you images while the group reaches the wine tasting, please advise at time of booking if wheelchair assistance is required or you need a scooter." We understand how challenging it can be to travel with mobility issues or other challenges, and we do our best to help, but we need to know in advance so we can make the necessary arrangements. There were two people at the meeting point: one was wearing a white polo shirt, and the other was the archaeologist, who doesn’t wear a uniform (I have to tell it as we have all uniform) I loved your group—have a great trip, everyone! María.
Was a short walk from the ship. Elissa was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and personable. We visited a excavated Roman home and then went to a Food and Roman wine tasting. Everything there was outstanding. We dressed up in Roman Togas. Carman our personal "slave" girl was great. Would highly recommend this tour
You all looked so handsome dressed as Romans! Thank you so much for your comment and for enjoying and recommend our experience. Kindest regards.
518 / 5 000 We had a great time, with our guide who spoke excellent English! We visited a 1st century tavern, which was beautifully decorated, and then a few steps away we went to a Roman style modern tavern. We had the opportunity to dress up like an elderly Roman matron and a Roman senator, which was very funny. We tasted 4 wines made according to old recipes and some food that was similar to what was eaten 2000 years ago! How delicious! We had a great time, I can only recommend it to everyone!
Wonderful and unique experience with two charming and knowledgeable guides. We tried four different Roman wines (which were delicious and surprising), paired with perfect Roman style tapas. I’d alwats wanted to try garam… The wines were crafted by archaeologists and wine makers following Roman recipes with no additives and therefore, amazingly, no hangover! We also visited the Casa de la fortuna - a Roman wine merchant’s house under a block of flats. All round a very memorable experience. Thank you!
Our guide was so knowledgeable about Cartagena. She took us around the city and pointed out lots of places of interest and also give us great information about where to visit and when. The Roman food tasting was fantastic, the food was delicious and all the history information was so interesting. We have attended many food and wine tours in various cities in Europe and this was the best. Definitely recommend it to anyone, it was brilliant.
This is SUCH a fun activity, I highly recommend it!! Our walking tour guide was knowledgeable and explained the context of what we were seeing at our first stop (a Roman-era house) clearly but also with an entertaining flair. The highlight of course is the second stop, with wine and tapas prepared based on lessons archaeologists have learned from excavating Pompeii. The wine and food were excellent and made for a filling lunch. The hostess is fun and also knowledgeable.
Thank you very much for your review, we were delighted to meet you and share with you this journey through time. I am very glad that you enjoyed the experience as much as we enjoyed offering it to you. We hope to see you in Cartagena again soon. Happy everything!
