Itinerary
The Palatine is one of the seven hills of Rome, located between the Velabro and the Roman Forum, and is one of the oldest parts of the city. The site is now a large open-air museum and can be visited during the day.
The Colosseum, originally known as Amphitheatrum Flavium or simply as Amphitheatrum, is the largest amphitheater in the world, located in the city center of Rome.
It was the area where the public and religious life of ancient Rome took place. With the fall of the Empire, the Roman Forum fell into oblivion and was buried little by little. Although the existence and location of the Forum was already known in the 16th century, excavations began only in the 20th century.

Good structure and easy to follow. Tour guide was knowledgeable and informative but not as engaging as we would have liked (more of a personality thing).

This was a fabulous tour made even better by our incredible tour guide - Alessandra! She is a true gem. She made the entire experience so much fun. The Colosseum was spectacular as was the Palatine Hill. It was hotter than normal in Rome during our stay in late May (90F+ most days) and it did get a bit uncomfortable standing in the sun at times, but having a hat or sunshade definitely helped. If you're sensitive to the heat/sun, I would probably skip this tour in Summer. I can't even imagine how hot it must be in July/August! There's also a lot of walking, some steps and hills, so if you have mobility issues, this tour would be tricky for you. Alessandra explained so much history to us and really made it fun. My entire group thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We give this tour and tour guide 10 stars!
Thank you for such an entertaining and thoughtful review! Alessandra will be delighted to hear your kind words. We appreciate your helpful tips for future travelers, especially regarding the heat and the walking involved. Thank you for spending part of your Roman adventure with us! Best regards, Gray Line I Love Rome
I took the Spanish language tour with Marco, who also does tours in English and Portuguese. He is very good. Extremely professional and not too rushed. Both the Forum and the Coliseum are must dos in Rome, but I wouldn't recommend seeing them without a guide; otherwise, it's just a bunch of ruins. If you are there in the summer, watch out! Make sure you're prepared with sunscreen, water and protective clothing.
Thank you for such a thoughtful review! We're happy that you enjoyed the "Ancient Rome Guided Walking Tour: Colosseum, Forum and Palatine" and that Marco made your visit even better! We completely agree—these incredible sites have so many stories hidden behind the stones, and a great guide makes all the difference. And thank you for the summer survival tips! Summer in Rome can be quite hot and overwhelming!😄 Best regards, Gray Line I Love Rome
