Itinerary

120 min

Our tour starts from your accommodation, and we will head toward Eastern Serbia. Two hours of the ride we’ll spend enjoying the beautiful landscapes and listening to interesting stories about this part of the country.

Admission included90 min

Our first stop is the Golubac fortress, a defensive complex used to defend many kingdoms through the centuries. Golubac is the perfect fairy-tale castle, wonderfully set off by its location in the rugged landscape at the head of Đerdap Gorge. There are nine towers in all, each between 20 and 25m high, combined with the interesting position of the fortress leaning over the Danube; they make Golubac undoubtedly one of the most beautiful castles along the 2850km Danube odyssey from source to the Black Sea.

45 min

After visiting the mighty fortress, we will continue our ride along the Danube River, and for the next 40 minutes, you will enjoy the scenic views while learning about the history and present-day aspects of Djerdap National Park. Next, we will stop at a unique, authentic restaurant with a fantastic view overlooking the Danube to enjoy a traditional lunch featuring specialties of Eastern Serbian cuisine (not included).

90 min

After a pleasant ride, we will make a stop in a unique, authentic restaurant with a fantastic view overlooking the Danube to enjoy a traditional lunch made with specialties of Eastern Serbian cuisine (not included).

Admission included70 min

After we’ve fed our stomachs with good food and our eyes with nice views, we’ll head for the last attraction on our tour. After around 30 minutes of driving, we will reach the most beautiful part of the Iron Gates – The Great Boilers. Here we will hop onto our boat, and in the next 60 minutes, you will enjoy some of the most spectacular views in this part of Europe. Cruising through the breathtaking natural marvel where the Danube River winds through towering cliffs and lush forests, we will visit the most famous sights in the gorge: Tabula Triana – a memorial plaque erected to commemorate the construction of a military road by Roman Emperor Trajan, the rock sculpture of Decebalus, the Dacian king and the rival of the Romans, Mraconia Monastery on the Romanian side of the river and the historic signal balloon stations of Varnica and Pena. Here we will end this river journey where history, nature, and legends meet.

Pass by

After taking in so many impressions, we’ll get back into our vehicle, and after roughly three hours (with one coffee and toilet break), you’ll be back in Belgrade. We believe that, after finishing the tour, you will have a completely different perspective.

Perfectly Timed and Charming Golubac Fortress Tour

We took a day trip to Golubac Fortress and the tour was perfectly timed and very well organized. The guide gave a concise, informative commentary, we had a lovely lunch under grapevines on the Danube, and finished with a great little boat ride.

Perfect and easy-going day tour

This was probably one of the best organised tours I've had in Serbia. I was travelling solo and joined a group of six other young adults, which kind of made the day really fun and easy to manage. Everyone was on time, so the tour moved smoothly without feeling rushed. The boat ride on the Danube was probably the highlight of the day. The whole itinerary was also very well planned with a good balance of activities and enough time to enjoy each stop. Our guide Uroš was excellent. He was knowledgeable and explained every details in fluent English. He was also friendly, easy to talk to and made everyone feel comfortable. On top of that, he was a safe driver throughout the trip. Overall, it was a great experience and I would highly recommend this tour, especially for solo travellers.

Exciting excursion to Iron Gate

Very interesting trip. Convenient minibus. Super lunch restaurant. Stop in Golubac fast. Unfortunately, only three towers were open. Exciting boat trip in the narrowest part of the river. The guide was knowledgeable and nice.

Nice tour, if a bit too much driving, but Jovan was a great guide who made it all interesting

We enjoyed the trip, although it was a lot of driving for an hour at the fortress, an hour of lunch and an hour-long boat ride. The long drive was tolerable thanks to our fantastic guide, Jovan. He was a wealth of information on Serbian history and everything else Serbian. The Iron Gate was picturesque, though not in the league of the Grand Canyon or Norwegian fjords. The fortress was interesting and photogenic. But without Jovan, i might have thought it was all not worth the many hours in the bus. Two suggestions for Victor Tours. First, update the web description of the trip’s details. Second, shorten the fortress stop or the lunch break to squeeze in a stop at the Lepenski Vir archeological site.

The group size was not...

The group size was not that big and the tour guide provided lot of background about Serbia and the place. The attractions were really stunning and the boat ride was really nice to see the coast between Serbia and Romania.
