Description

The Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu is a popular alternative to the Inca Trail. It is considered by many to be the best alternative route due to the natural beauty found along the trail and the lack of crowds. Because it is a more remote and rugged route, the Salkantay Trek has significantly fewer people than the Inca Trail. With breathtaking and inspiring views, this less traveled trail is invaluable. It is truly, as the Incas called it, sacred. If you are looking for an adventure in Peru, consider the “Salkantay Trek” as an option to reach Machu Picchu.

Amazing experience with Macchu Picchu Expeditions

The service provided by Machu Picchu Expedition was exceptional throughout our entire trip. From the very beginning, they paid close attention to every detail, ensuring that we had everything we needed to fully enjoy each scheduled visit. I loved learning more about Peruvian cuisine through delicious traditional dishes, which made the cultural experience even more enriching. In addition, our tour guide was outstanding. Thanks to their explanations, every landscape, snow-capped Andes mountain, jungle route, river, waterfall, and historical site came to life, allowing us to truly understand the deep cultural significance and rich history of each place. The adventure was also filled with excitement. The zipline experience was simply phenomenal—full of adrenaline and surrounded by breathtaking scenery. The accommodations were equally impressive, with warm and welcoming hospitality, and the opportunity to spend a night in the domes was a unique and memorable experience. If you are planning to visit Machu Picchu, my recommendation is clear: do not miss the opportunity to hike Huayna Picchu (Circuit 3). It is a one-of-a-kind experience, offering stunning views and unforgettable memories that will stay with you forever. Without a doubt, this was a beautiful and unforgettable journey. I 100% recommend Machu Picchu Expedition to anyone who wants to discover the best of Peru with professionalism, safety, and first-class service. I would gladly travel with them again without hesitation! 🌟

Terrible experience: Language exclusion, uninhabitable domes, and total neglect.

Agency: Machupicchu Expeditions (Salkantay Trek 5-day excursion) I booked this 5-day excursion with my partner, and we were forced to abandon it on Day 1 due to the negligence of the guides, the lack of basic infrastructure, and the poor response from the agency. It was a disastrous experience. 1. Language exclusion and neglect: The service is advertised as bilingual, but the reality is that the guide prioritizes English 95% of the time. The talks and important details are given exclusively in English, while in Spanish they only provide brief answers or say, "I will explain later," which never happens. It reached the point where, after lunch, they gave accommodation and schedule instructions only in English; the entire group left, and we were left completely alone, uninformed, and adrift. 2. Precarious and uninhabitable facilities: After having to go find the staff ourselves to know where to sleep, we were assigned a dome in unacceptable conditions for the low temperatures of the mountain. The door was broken and did not close properly, leaving us exposed to the extreme cold. Additionally, the toilet did not have running water. 3. Terrible customer service: When I contacted the agency via WhatsApp to report the broken door and the lack of basic water, their response was to downplay the problem. They tried to excuse themselves by saying that the service was "shared" to justify not speaking to us in Spanish, and they responded with evasions about the facilities (even confusing our complaint about the lack of water in the toilet with the charge for hot showers). Due to the lack of solutions, the nonexistent living conditions, and feeling that our health and safety were at risk, we decided to leave the tour that same afternoon and return on our own. To make matters worse, the company tried to label our justified withdrawal as a "No-Show" to wash their hands of the situation. Conclusion: If you value your safety, your money, and want to understand the explanations of the places you visit, do not hire Machupicchu Expeditions. They treat you like a second-class passenger and expose you to precarious conditions without taking responsibility for anything. We are already processing the formal complaint for reimbursement.

Enrique, Julio & Carlos are great

I had a great time with Machu Picchu Expeditions. Our guide, Enrique was excellent. He was so passionate and wanted to tell us everything he knew. We also loved his energy which kept us going when we were tired. We have the best chef Julio. He cooked restaurant standard food. He was so kind and even made guacamole from avocados that we picked. Big thanks to Carlos who looked after the horses. He was great. I definetly recommend booking with them
