Itinerary
We begin our journey at one of the oldest enclaves in George Town. Like the migrants who made this place home, we will wander the city - exploring its food, its quirks and finding our place in this vibrant and diverse melting pot.
Change is inevitable, and we will discover how the winds of change have rearranged the city from its founding, to its glory days in the 19th century. Our selection of food changes with it, telling us a story many people barely perceive.
We get a little off the beaten track, and discuss the pieces and players and recent events that have changed the face of George Town. We reflect on our journey, and how it mirrors the journey of this city and its people. And perhaps we come away a little wiser (and full of food).

Great way to explore Penang. The guide was excellent, the food was delicious and we discovered many facts about the history and culture of Penang.
Thank you so much!
My husband and I wanted an introduction to the different types of food George Town is known for. All of the restaurants on the tour met our expectations, and we were really pleased with the quality and diversity on offer.
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Most importantly he took us to explore a range of delicious foods in a variety of places in the UNESCO part of George Town with its rich blend of cultures and food. It all came together to provide a wonderful experience for the whole family. The chicken samosas were a highlight from the street vendor. I recommend you don’t have any breakfast before starting this trip! This was an experience for all the senses. Thank you.
Thank you for such a wonderful review!
We enjoyed all the food we tasted so much that we went back to some over the rest of our stay Our guide was so lovely enjoyed his company
Thanks, we’re so glad you enjoyed your time!
Brandon was very knowledgeable both about history, heritage and food on this tour. A great small group tour (we had 6) and Brandon managed to ensure we all were looked after and well fed.
So grateful to Darna and Jeremy for a fabulous afternoon of history, culture and most importantly, incredible food! We would absolutely not have been able to find the amazing local treasures they took us to during our walking tour. After our tour they also generously followed up with further suggestions for other places to visit plus the details of each dish we had tried at each establishment. The afternoon was well paced, with a deeply considered menu. Can't recommend highly enough if you are looking a friendly, informative and delicious local tour in Penang!
We had a fantastic tour with Brandon, and just wish our appetites could have accommodated all of the delicious food! It was a perfect introduction to Penang culture and cuisine.
We were in a group of 6 and were lead by our tour guide, Brandon. He was informative and took us for good variety of snacks and meals throughout Georgetown. We tried samosa, chai, curries, laksa, kuih, char kway teow, and various Nonya dishes. It was great to try out the specialties and learn about the primary cultural groups in the city. Brandon took care of ordering and payment for all the food, and kept on asking if we had enough to eat – he was determined to make us full! Highly recommend.
To be honest, wasn’t sue what to expect. Brandon turned up on the dot and the next 3 hours was a thoroughly entertaining and informative morning not only sampling many different ethnic dishes but also learning about Malay life, art, culture and its people. A tremendous way to pass a morning. Great guide and even better food.
A wonderful morning spent touring some interesting Penang foodie establishments we would never have found without our knowledgable guide Brandon. Many of which are hidden behind unpretentious shop fronts to which many would not look twice. An amazing tour, Truly remarkable food!
Thanks Lao much—we’re glad you enjoyed it!
