2-Hour “Ancient & Modern” Beijing Sidecar Tour (Day /Night)

We had an absolutely unforgettable 5-star experience from start to finish. From the moment we were picked up right at our hotel foyer, everything felt seamless, welcoming, and thoughtfully organised. John went above and beyond to tailor the ride for my birthday, generously surprising us with a beautiful riverside celebration. It was such a personal and meaningful touch that made the day feel truly special. Riding through the hutongs at ground level was a priceless cultural experience. We didn’t feel like tourists passing through — it genuinely felt like we were part of the local community. That intimacy and authenticity made it one of the most memorable experiences of our time in Beijing. We are deeply grateful for the memories we’ve made, which will truly last a lifetime. John’s warm personality, perfect English, and local knowledge made the tour both engaging and effortless. We felt completely safe the entire time, and the freedom of exploring by bike made it even more enjoyable. To top it all off, the experience ended with thoughtful gifts, which was such a generous surprise. We loved the tour so much we both fell asleep within minutes of getting back — completely happy and exhausted in the best way. When we return to Beijing, we will absolutely book again with our new friend John. Highly recommended for anyone wanting an authentic, safe, and truly special way to experience Beijing.

I had an absolute blast on this tour. I could only fit the 2 hour tour into my schedule, but it was great. John picked me up at my hotel and drove me all over the different areas of Beijing. He made sure to tell me about each area or significant building we were near. He took the time to answer any questions I had. He took pictures for me since I was a solo traveler. I would definitely recommend this tour. If I ever find myself in Beijing again, I would try to take one of his longer tours.

We booked the evening side car tour directly on the website from Scotland before we travelled to Beijing. Would highly recommend this tour, John and his partner were great giving a guided tour around the sights of Beijing. Enjoyed the stop off for some local beer and cake by the lake. Even managed a game of foot badminton with some locals by the Drum Tower.Tour lasted 2 hours and we were picked up exactly on time at the hotel.

If you are looking for an exhilarating way to see Beijing, then this is it! We saw so many different places that we wouldn't necessarily have found ourselves - an excellent way to see the city.... 2-Way communication is via a Bluetooth headset inside your helmet, so you are in full contact with the riders. For us, this was definitely a 5* experience!

This tour was so fantastic. A great way to see Beijing. John was the perfect guide, very knowledgeable, and took me to places i never knew existed in Beijing. Was really interesting to see snd find out how the local people live Aldo he gave me local beer 🤣 and a little gift bag I would 100% recommend this tour, it’s fabulous

We wanted to do something a little different then the usual tourist things while in Beijing. John's sidecar tour fit the bill. It was so much fun zipping around the Beijing streets at night either on the back or in the sidecar. We were able to stop and see the Bell and Drum towers and hear about the history and see local life in the hutangs. This was one of the favorite memories from our trip.

John was an excellent guide, taking us around the Hutongs and to the Beijing Bell Tower as well to the modern part of the city with the spaceship type of buildings. We ended the tour with a delicious meal which include Peking duck. All in all an excellent activity to do if only have 3-4 hours to explore Beijing.

John gave us one of those travel experiences you don’t forget anytime soon. Seeing Beijing from the side carrier of his motorbike already made the whole day feel a bit adventurous, but what really stood out was how much depth he brought to everything we visited. He didn’t just point out landmarks — he told the stories behind them, the little historical details you’d never pick up on your own. You can tell he genuinely loves what he does. And then there was the food — easily a highlight. John took us to these tucked-away local spots I would’ve never found by myself. No touristy feel, just authentic, delicious Beijing eats that really made the whole experience feel immersive. If you’re looking for something more personal, fun, and insightful than the usual tour, I can’t recommend John enough. Great guide, great company, and an all-around great time.

We had an excellent experience with Beijing Sidecar Tours — John was fantastic and really made the trip memorable. On our first day, Sophia guided us through the Forbidden City and provided incredibly detailed history that brought everything to life. It never felt rushed, and she did a great job balancing information with time to explore. Afterward, she dropped us off for lunch where we met John and had Peking duck, which was amazing. From there, we did the hutong sidecar tour — it was both informative and an absolute blast. Easily one of the most fun and unique experiences of the trip. The following day at the Great Wall is honestly hard to put into words — it was fantastic, amazing, and a bit mind-blowing all at once. John was our guide that day, and he made a huge difference. He shared a ton of history, kept things engaging, and made the whole experience feel special and personal. We don’t think it would have been nearly as great with a different guide. Overall, everything was very well organized, smooth, and thoughtfully planned. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a unique, well-run way to experience Beijing.

Loved our sidecar tour with John - was an excellent way to start our trip. We arrived early so we put our bags into storage at the hotel and headed out. Was a brilliant introduction to a city I was surprised to find was very pretty, especially with all the blossoms in Spring. We felt safe at all times and got some great photos - mostly taken by John himself & sent to us later. Highly recommended! John also organised a driver to take us to the Mutianyu section of the wall by car. Our driver, Jason, was fantastic. Like John, he was very knowledgeable. His car was very comfortable - in fact a super nice car, better than we expected! We will be recommending John to anyone we know heading to Beijing, and when we return we will certainly be in touch with him and use his services again.
