Wadi Rum: Kamel-Trek-Abenteuer

Beschreibung

Myself and my husband booked a 2 night / 3 day camel trek with Desert Eyes from Wadi Rum to Aqaba. It was the highlight of our trip to Jordan. You can of course drive from Wadi Rum to Aqaba in a couple of hours but to travel slowly through the desert for 3 days was magical. Neither of us had been on a camel before, so it was a real adventure. You get to interact with the Bedouin people, to see how they live and immerse yourself in their culture. Also with the 3 day camel trek you get to venture into parts of the desert that are off the beaten track, that you wouldn’t see by spending just an hour or an afternoon, and you get to sleep out under the stars. The camels are well looked after and are very friendly and the food that they cook over an open fire is very delicious and plentiful. Before we took the camel trek we spent 2 nights in the Bedouin camp as we wanted to just spend time relaxing and getting a feel for desert life. The whole trip was very well organized, we arrived early but it was no problem, Khaled took us to his home for tea while our tent was being prepared. So, a big thank you to Khaled, the owner, Suleiman who drove the jeep with our luggage and bedding and also cooked the wonderful meals, and Hamdan our camel guide for their exceptional hospitality. I would highly recommend this trip.
This was an amazing trip. Khaled provided a well-planned, exciting itinerary. Our two guides, Suleman (camp set up and cook) and Hamdan (camel guide), were very knowledgeable and provided a genuine Bedouin experience. The slow rolling gait of a camel is truly the best way to experience Wadi Rum. We camped under the stars, one night on a stone ledge with petroglyphs. The night sky was stunning, as was the sunrise. Food was cooked over a campfire and was hearty and delicious. We went close to 50 kilometers on camel over three days. I recommend Desert Eyes without reservation.
Our tour with the guides was super organized, we were a day on the road with the jeep and three days with camels on tour. A great experience with many highlights. One of them was the overnight stays under the breathtaking starry sky. The food was great and the guides were very friendly and helpful! We'll be back!
This was a beautiful experience and highly recommend it. The camels are well looked after by the Bedouins and are gorgeous animals. The dessert sun on your back as you take a slow ride is a wonderful feeling
Dear Kate, Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re happy to hear you had an enjoyable time in Wadi Rum and that you recommend it! Your kind words mean a lot to us. All the best for the rest of your travels. Take care, from Khaled & the team at Desert Eyes
We put ourselves totally in the hands of Desert Eyes and had an amazing experience! Our camels were clearly well cared-for and healthy. The camel guide was Bedouin/English-speaking and extremely competent, our Bedouin chef was amazing, producing beautiful traditional food for us. The Desert Eyes owner checked each day that everything was in order. We had wonderful Bedouin evenings with fantastic food, and a lot of fun. The desert was amazing, in the daytime and also at night. This trip totally overdelivered. Our hosts really took great care and we felt humble and honoured to be their guests. In the desert there is no WC, so we were very discrete and left no litter; it was no problem. A Bedouin shower (water bottle with punctured holes in the lid) was a great solution. My husband and I both developed sore bottoms from skin-on-skin chafing (no fault of the camels/equipment). Next time we would use something to prevent this!
Who won't want to ride a camel in Jordan. Our track was organised by our tour guide and was about an hour. We were planning on doing one at Petra but we're advised we would get better value at Wadi Rum with a longer ride. We were not sorry we took up the offer as it was a lot of fun. Of course I got the naughty camel who complained etc but what a lovely creature. Beautiful sites to see and a unique experience. Thank you to all those who made us so welcome.

The organization and guides were great. The overnight stay under the stars was an absolute highlight and also the food was top! Also the hike the next day was great. Always happy!

We chose the full day camel trip to the desert and it was amazing, a bit painful, but worth it. Khaled is very friendly and answered all our questions. He is working with local bedouins and they were our guides through the desert. The food was good, and the services were great. We strongly recommend!
Thank you for sharing your review, we really appreciate it. We hope you are enjoying the rest of your travels. Best wishes from Khaled and the team at Desert Eyes.
