Die berühmte Cheops-Pyramide ist mit Abstand die größte, höchste und intakteste Pyramide Ägyptens. Nach seiner Errichtung wurde es zu einem der „Sieben Weltwunder der Antike“, und heute ist es das einzige, das noch übrig ist. Für einen Zeitraum von 4300 Jahren war die Pyramide auch das höchste Gebäude der Erde, bis die Franzosen 1889 den Eiffelturm bauten. Cheops-Pyramide ist komplett aus Kalkstein gebaut und gilt als architektonisches Meisterwerk. Es enthält rund 1.300.000 Blöcke mit einem Gewicht von 2,5 bis 15 Tonnen. Seine quadratische Grundfläche umfasst 13 Acres und seine Seiten messen etwa 230 m (755 Fuß). Seine vier Seiten zeigen genau auf die vier Himmelsrichtungen und er hat einen Winkel von 52 Grad
Die Khafre-Pyramide oder die 2. Khafres Sohn Menkaure baute die kleinste der 3 Hauptpyramiden auf dem Gizeh-Plateau. Dieser war nur 65,5 m (215 ft) hoch, heute 62 m (203 ft), mit einer Seitenlänge von 105 m (344 ft) und einem Winkel von 51,3 Grad. Es wird angenommen, dass diese Pyramide während ihres Baus verändert und viel größer als ursprünglich geplant gemacht wurde. Die ursprüngliche, kleinere Pyramide hatte einen einfachen absteigenden Korridor und eine Grabkammer, aber als sie vergrößert wurde, wurde ein neuer Korridor mit 3 Fallgittern und einer kleinen getäfelten Kammer gebaut. Noch später wurde eine weitere Grabkammer zusammen mit einem Lagerraum auf einer niedrigeren Ebene hinzugefügt. Diese Pyramide hat, wie ihre 2 Nachbarn, einen Norden, der dem Eingang zugewandt ist.

Our tour guide, Ehab, and our driver, Ramy, were both incredibly sweet, welcoming, and attentive throughout the entire day. They picked us up directly from our hotel and made sure we always had water, felt comfortable, and could ask as many questions as we wanted. Before visiting the pyramids, they took us to a few local shops where we learned how papyrus paper is made and more about Egyptian spices and perfumes, which was such a fun addition to the experience. Very quick response to my request, worked with my needs, respectful, helpful & kind. We only had 8hour, 50minute layover, AND it’s plenty of time for an adventure. There’s a $30USD per person visa fee that needs to be paid BEFORE going through customs (you get a sticker). We were picked up at the airport and immediately felt welcomed and safe. They took us shopping, got nice cotton clothes, had a lovely camel ride behind the pyramids, picked up local food & took a felucca (sailboat) ride on the Nile for sunset, and got to the airport with plenty of time. I would ask that they stock some water as it was hot and we were thirsty! Beshoy was not just a guide, he was also an Egyptologist and told us many lovely stories. Thank you!!!
