Das Schwarze Kolosseum, das unter der modernen Stadt darauf wartet, erkundet zu werden!
Einer der stimmungsvollsten Orte in Catania. Eine antike Lavahöhle, die in griechischer Zeit als Zisterne und später von den Römern als Katakombengrab genutzt wurde. Der Überlieferung nach war dies der Ort der ersten Bestattung der Heiligen Agatha, auf dem bereits im Jahr 262 eine kleine Kirche errichtet wurde. Auch heute noch bewahrt die Krypta die Überreste antiker Fresken und Verzierungen, die direkt in den Fels gehauen wurden.
Der Amenano, ein mysteriöser unterirdischer Fluss, der sich unter dem historischen Zentrum von Catania schlängelt, floss ursprünglich an die Oberfläche und speiste den Nicito-See. Im Laufe der Jahrhunderte haben Ausbrüche, Erdbeben und Kriege nicht nur die Stadtplanung der Stadt verändert, sondern auch ihr natürliches Erscheinungsbild. Wir besuchen eine eindrucksvolle Rutschhöhle, in der noch ein Flussarm fließt

Matilda was wonderful and knowledgeable guide. Her love of Catania and her job really showed through on our tour! I would highly recommend this tour and especially on a Sunday as one of the sites is only open on that day.

Excellent guide who used his experience as an archeologist to really bring the tour alive. As well as very interesting information about the places we saw, he also shared with us the tastes of local history through food and drink that he bought for us at local venders. I would thoroughly recommend this tour for a real flavour of Catania

You will see underground Roman amphitheater which will is very impressive. But could do this in your own for a 4 euro entrance fee. Mathilda was very nice and knowledgeable but there are placards that explain everything. The other 2 places were caves nothing overly impressive and 1 euro entrance fees. We were treated to a typical Sicilian street food and water plus a granita type drink. Definitely not worth the cost of the tour

Underground Catania was the best way to experience and learn about the history, architecture, and culture of the city. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Catania for the first time!

It was a very knowledgeable tour guide who had a lot of passion of the subject, which we really enjoyed! Mathilde was great at answering all questions and always pointed at the most interesting aspects of the buildings/caves…etc. it is not a tour fully underground, but you’re visiting three separate underground locations. It is a great tour with a fantastic tour guide! Very highly recommend!
